Title: Public Screenings
Post by: baldy1138 on July 20, 2001, 06:31:06 PM
Anybody have any experience with organizing public screenings? I'd like to organize a charity bad movie night in support of my local food bank this fall, and I need to know how to go about doing it legally (and whether it's even worth trying). Are there many 'I's to dot and 'T's to cross?

I personally never have, but know lots of folk who have done so.  It can't be that difficult if they can do it.  Here's the Homemovies site, which has a link to Bill Hammel, whose done quite a few over the years.  Ask him your questions & mention my name --  well, for some reason my setup ain't letting me click & drag to the postboard.  So here it is typed out:

Bill's a good guy & should be able to help if not too busy --

This is what NOWFF, or the New Orleans Worst Film Festival, has been doing for years.  (I mean exactly; they run it for a food bank.)  They're at http://www.nowff.com, and would likely be glad to give you some advice.
