To whoever is interested..I am now the proud owner of Roger Cormans "Not of this Earth (1957)". A movie that I saw as a kid that freaked me out. I never would have discovered the title if not for badmovies.org. I got it on ebay.
Good film and glad that you rediscovered it too.
This is a movie that I have been waiting and waiting for on DVD. A number of the older films of note, that are "Corman's," have not come out on DVD yet. Where are "The Day the World Ended" (1956) or "Teenage Caveman" (1958)?
I have some info on NOT OF THIS EARTH and THE DAY THE WORLD ENDED. Keep in mind though that this is the best info I have on the whereabouts of the two films, so don't take all this info to heart too quickly as I might havesome info wrong. Regardless, this is just to give a vague idea as to where they might be considering some of the sources that I have looked up at.
NOT OF THIS EARTH, a popular Roger Corman title that has been demanded to be released, was owned by Allied Artists, who also own Corman's ATTACK OF THE CRAB MONSTERS (1955). When Allied Artists closed, the films went straight to Warner Brothers. To this day, Warner has not released NOT OF THIS EARTH on early video. However, Warner is releasing THE BEAST FROM 20,000 FATHOMS (1953), THE BLACK SCORPION (1959), and VALLEY OF GWANGI (1969) on DVD, so NOT OF THIS EARTH might follow depending on how well the sales do for these three. Warner, along with Paramount, is one company that hasn't grasped the ideal of DVD format when it comes to some of their older cult titles.
As for THE DAY THE WORLD ENDED and TEENAGE CAVEMAN, this is somewhat of a tough one. Some sources claim that MGM owns THE DAY THE WORLD ENDED, others indicate that it's AMC that owns the film. Just recently in England, a Region 2 DVD of THE DAY THE WORLD ENDED was released with the "AMC Monsterfeast" label on it, from what I am told. Even so, the Region 2 DVD is terribly pan-scan removing the theatrical 2.35:1 aspect ratio. AMC recently aired THE DAY THE WORLD ENDED in it's 2.35:1 format, but sadly I missed it.
TEENAGE CAVEMAN is said to be held by Susan Hart, daughter of American International Producer James H. Nicholson. Apparently, she is not interested in releasing this title along with IT CONQUERED THE WORLD (1956) and THE AMAZING COLOSSAL MAN (1957). MGM, make some kind of deal please!
