Title: Prophecy II (1998)
Post by: Scott on September 15, 2003, 10:52:12 PM
PROPHECY II (1998) - I liked the first movie PROPHECY and this one is ok, but wasn't as good. The scenes are darker and they wisper alot. The only thing good about it was Christopher Walken. Not sure if I'll rent the PROPHECY III. Maybe I'll catch it on TV some day.

I'd like to see Walken team up with Travolta in a movie. Anyone here find this an interesting combo? Both in there angel roles. Micheal vs Gabriel?

If you didn't like II, then you probably won't like III.

I thought the first one was OK, but not remotely mindblowing stuff. I've considered renting II & III several times (I am a big Walken fan), but something inside me makes me distrust direct-to-video sequels. It may be that absurd "Darkman" sequel I saw on TV.

Sometimes when it goes that "sequel" direction it starts to feel like a series. Movies are like Iconoclastic art. It's either sacred or not. When you try to improve on it most of  the time it dosn't work. The movie must stand by itself. A movie has a budget and time limit that contributes to how it falls together. Movies that are original in idea and execution are hard to find and it's fun to find the source of the newer material used in movies.
