Ok, I know there have been threads about well known actors having bit parts early in their careers, but what about when you discover that the little kid in a movie grew up to be someone at least semi-famous?
I was watching Virtuosity and when I went to the IMDB to look up the goofs, trivia and such for it I spotted the name Kaley Cuoco in the cast list. Now, she plays the oldest daughter on Eight Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter, but back then, she was only 10 and played the daughter of the female costar.
Has anyone ever had this happen? You see some anonymous kid in a movie with no idea who they are and it turns out that you know them from something else?
I think the kid out of The Gate is Stephen Dorff.
Robert Blake was "Mickey" on The Little Rascals.
Harry Shearer (Derek Smalls of Spinal Tap and about half the residents of Springfield) played Eddie Haskell in the pilot episode of Leave it to Beaver.
Helen Hunt did some kid movies.
I'm sure this well known, but I just saw "Masters of the Universe" on TV and Courtney Cox was in it! She did a pretty bad scream, then I turned it off because I was bored.
Ron Howard was in a black and white TV show as a kid many years ago
...ok that was pretty obvious
Corey Feldman is one of those actors you will find in a s**t load of movies as a kid.
Recently I was watching Forrest Gump and found out that Haley Joe Osmet is Gumps son.
One of the kids in the goonies plays Sam in the Lord of the Rings.
Jerry O'Connel plays the fat kid in Stand By Me.
Tara Reid was the girl in Return To Salems Lot
Ethan Hawke was about 8-10 years old when he did the movie "Explorers" - River Phoenix was pretty young in this one too....
Michael J. Fox was about 17 when he starred in "Midnight Madness".
'FAGABEEFEE!!!!!
>Tara Reid was the girl in Return To Salems Lot
Yes, I was surprised to discover this myself!
>Ethan Hawke was about 8-10 years old when he did the movie "Explorers" -
>River Phoenix was pretty young in this one too....
They were the stars, so at the time, their names were plastered all over it. I mean ones where you wouldn't even have known until you spot their name in the credits.
>Michael J. Fox was about 17 when he starred in "Midnight Madness".
Easily recognizable though.
I just thought of another one;
Erika Eleniak was the little girl that Henry Thomas kisses in E.T. Erika went on to become a Playboy playmate and had roles in Baywatch, Under Siege (the stripper in the cake), Chasers and quite a few direct to video movies.
Teenage caveman a YOUNG robert Vaughn as 'the boy' he must have been in his mid twenties by then.
Shirley Temple, and she is TOPLESS, too. Of course, she was only 4 years old at the time. Before she started making films, and became famous, she appeared in a number of short subjects. But, even at that age, she was instantly recognizable.
Brian Bloom, from the short-lived "The Bandit" series and movies like VAMPIRELLA, etc., was one of the kids in Larry Cohen's THE STUFF.
Jorge Sanz, a quite popular spanish actor, played young Conan in "Conan The Barbarian". A friend of mine told me that in the DVD Commentary track both John Millius and Arnold say that they haven't heard from him ever since. LOL He is one of the most recognizable spanish actors ever! He even was in "Belle epoque", which one the Oscar!
I later discovered it only because I think he changed his name from leaf to Joaquin Phoenix. In his earlier years the really annoying kid in "Spacecamp".
Also I had totally never made the connection between the redhead Cynthia Nixon in "Sex and the City" and her role in the 70's film "little Darlings" until I rewatched the movie several months back.
Usually I don't "discover" them in a movie, I just revisit a film i haven't seen in ages and notice it.
Kurt Russell(around 9 or 10 at the time) kicked Elvis in It happened at the World's Fair, thus doing what we all wanted to do to Elvis for going lame.
Dean Stockwell- I was only familiar with him as AL in Quantum Leap, then saw him as a child actor in The Boy With Green Hair and Kim. Man, he grew up hard!
>Also I had totally never made the connection between the redhead Cynthia
>Nixon in "Sex and the City" and her role in the 70's film "little Darlings" until I
>rewatched the movie several months back.
She was also the star's girlfriend in The Manhattan Project, back when she still had hair...
>>She was also the star's girlfriend in The Manhattan Project, back when she still had hair...<<
Oh yes, I had forgotten to mention! And that came on just the other week - I watched just parts of it but again one fo those movies you just sorta forget who was in it.
