I was just reading some reviews of the new Texas Chainsaw Massacre and I'm more psyched about it than I have been about a film in a long time. From what I've seen and heard so far, we can expect a dark, sick, and completely disturbing flick this Friday.
I do have to say, that I hated the original TCM. As many times as I've tried to watch it, I still can't make it through. To me it wasn't disturbing nor scary. The new TCM on the other hand looks awfully damn creepy. The trailer really got my blood going and I can't wait to check it out.
I do have some reservations about the film. Michael Bay is directing it......and I'm certainly not a fan of his films. Hopefully the man will do some good with this flick.
I was just curious as to if anyone else was looking forward to this flick as much as I am.
Thoughts?
I hated the idea of a remake when I first heard about it.
But the trailers look pretty good, so I'm curious to see it now.
I'm gonna wait it out to see what the fans of the original think.
Looks okay to me.
Now, whether or not it's equal to the original remains to be seen...
If the original is a classic - why do we need a remake

We probably don't need a remake. We probably don't need movies, period.
Now, wanting a remake, that's another story.
Case in point: the original King Kong is a classic. It doesn't need a remake.
However, I very much want to see the Peter Jackson remake. It might not be as good, but, then again...
Back on topic - there's a review of the new Massacre over at C.H.U.D. (http://www.chud.com/reviews/tcm.php3) The guy raves.
Michael 'dumbf**k' Bay isnt directing this, Hes only producing it. German director Marcus Nispel is the director of this film. its not a remake, more like a sequel.

This is the only way to get a lot of people interested in a classic.
But Skaboi, I am so happy to find that at least one other person agrees that TCM is neither astounding nor scary, just disturbing. I didnt like this movie at all. Personally, the trailors have made no sense at all, and are very disorganized
I have a friend at work who says that this remake is scarier then the original. I will never see it though.
Probably one of those people for whom "scary" means "gory." Nowhere near the same.....

This is the way to get people disinterested in a classic by showing them they don't need to see the classic if a remake with the hottest soundtrack and currect young actors will be in it. Very few actually rush out to see the original, why bother.Everytime I talk to someone younger than me about a recent remake and say "Ya but didn't you see the original?"
"There was an original?" Then to which they reply along the lines of "Yeah but it's old, i'm not into black and white movies"
aaaaaahhhhh!
