I've been wanting to see Bubba Ho Tep for sometime now but noticed that it hasn't been released in any local theaters.
Is it in limited release initially...to be released widespread at a later date?
It's showing in Royal Oak, Michigan (Bruce's hometown) -- he's supposed to show up there Saturday, Oct. 18. That looks to be the closest to Toledo.
playing near where I live too...damn need to see it.
I just saw it at the Kendall Square Theater in Boston, and I can say with absolutely no fear of exaggeration that the entire history of mankind has been building up to this movie. If you have to take a cross-country road trip to see it, do it. Now.
Seriously, I don't think there's an actual widespread release planned, but bubbahotep.com still posts new cities on a regular basis; with any luck it'll come your way soon.
Oh, and I'm now waiting with baited breath for the proposed sequal at the end of the credits, "Bubba Nosferatu: Curse of the She-Vampires!"
From what I've read so far, it's going to make a small initial release and if it does well, go national.
I'm hoping to see it when I go back up to Michigan to visit my sister. Royal Oak was also where the 20th Anniversary Evil Dead screening was, which was a blast.
BTW, Royal Oak is like 3 hours from Toledo :P
Hey, Vermin Boy . . . I see you're in Boston . . . at Emerson College.
I was going there on the adult degree program, but I had to take some time off because of my job. I think I need to take only about 10 more courses to get my degree. (My first degree was in accounting . . . boring, boring, boring . . . but it pays the bills, I guess).
Cool! Yeah, I'm enjoying it so far-- any college located right next to an old-style joke shop is okay in my book :) I was at he 9:30 showing of Bubba Ho Tep on Friday; how about you?

That is the same theater where I went to see "MST3K: The Movie" during its theatrical release. The place was packed full of fans, all of us cheered when the various characters hit the screen. I have never seen a theater with more energy.
In a similar vein, I remember seeing "Saving Private Ryan" in the theater. The movie ended and absolutely nobody moved until the lights came on. There was a lot of emotion in the theater as the audience filed out (many were older men).
I just saw it yesterday in San Francisco... it was AWESOME!!!!!
My husband and I laughed our asses off and are anxiously awaiting the DVD release!
i just found out it's in champaign illinois...an hour away...i'm going sunday!
Royal Oak Michigan is also where FILM THREAT magazine was published way back when it was an "underground" periodical, when I wrote for it, before it became an online above-ground trendy thingy.
