Title: Puppet Master Comic Books?
Post by: Andrew on October 25, 2003, 11:09:36 AM
I just received an email from David de Vries, who apparently wrote the "Puppet Master" and "Children of the Puppet Master" comic books.  I know a number of you are knowledgeable about comic books, so has anyone ever seen one?  Any thoughts if so?

I doubt many people even know they exist but I have all of them since I'm a pretty big puppet master fan (have alot of weird full moon things I've collected over the years, even Band's autograph on a few cards.) They're pretty hard to find nowadays- they came out around 1990-1991. Very awesome artwork, a lot of gore, and even some outright almost porn stuff in parts (more graphic then the movies if I recall.) I forget how many they released (I think maybe 6 or so) I haven't looked at them in a good two years at least (I have them in a comic drawer sealed and with backing boards.) I remember the puppet master ones were based on the movies (and I'm pretty sure one pre-dated the release of the third movie and it had the same storyline) Children of the Puppet Master was like a spinoff with new stories. I'll pull them out again and look them over. They also released comics based on subspecies but I never was able to pick those up. I got all of the puppet master comics maybe 3 years ago on ebay. I'm not a big comic collector but I do have a coule of weird things like those.

Surprised someone like that would write to you. Do you think he wanted to do an interview? If you need any artwork from them I can always send some in.

It sounds familiar.  Were there other Full Moon comics besides the Puppetmaster series?  I can't picture an issue in my head, but it seems like something my little brother would have had.

I can picture a not very good Leatherface comic.

You know, Andrew, you haven't done an interview in a while.  Why not interview this guy?  Not exactly a movie guy, but related and all.

Slight aside, there's a comic that just started called THE WALKING DEAD, which is about zombies and seems very promising.  I recommend checking it out.
