Okay folks, Blue Underground has been promising some great upcoming DVD's like THE FINAL COUNTDOWN (1980) and DEATHDREAM (1972). But recently at the mhvf.net, Blue Underground has an even bigger suprise. The company is planning to release Armando de Ossorio's four "Blind Dead" films TOMBS OF THE BLIND DEAD (1971), RETURN OF THE EVIL DEAD (1973), HORROR OF THE ZOMBIES (1974), and NIGHT OF THE SEAGULLS (1975) in a box set!
All the films will be new transfers and such, so once again Blue Underground comes to the rescue and finally Ossorio's Spanish-Portugal "Blind Dead" films will be available on a better DVD format, uncut and uncensored.
The rights to the first three films are the only ones which they've secured so far. They haven't confirmed the rights yet to the fourth film, but they say they're working on it.
Deathdream, wow!! I thought that film has disappeared into obscurity. But it's nice to know blue underground gives old horror movies like that a chance, they probably wouldn't have one anywhere else. I'd like to kiss the boss of blue underground on the forehead!
I have VHS copies of TOMBS OF THE BLIND DEAD and RETURN OF THE BLIND DEAD. I can't wait for the DVD releases of the movies in this series.
I am also anxiously awaiting DEATHDREAM.
I probably won't buy THE FINAL COUNTDOWN until the price drops below $10.
I have the Blind Dead film with the ship and them coming onto the beach. It is on one of those Brentwood DVD's. Horror from the Grave. (or something like that)
also have Tombs of the Blind Dead and Return of the Blind Dead, but the original is subtitled. I kinda liked the dubbed version.
I have the anchor bay dvd with both of the first 2 blind dead films, the anchor bay videos of those (I got them before there was a dvd out if I remember) and the two other films on 80's releases by super video and sony. I've always wanted to see Death Dream but it is indeed very obscure.
