Title: So what did YOU get out of the Matrix Trilogy? ***SPOILERS
Post by: Neon Noodle on November 06, 2003, 12:07:57 AM
Nothing?

That's okay. Some folks may only like the first one, but here's what I got from the holy Trinity (just got back from Revolutions, gotta write this down while it's still fresh in my cabeza)

I was watching the Matrix on TBS last night and I had to leave the room during commercial breaks so nothing got ruined for the 3rd one. I heard a voiceover say the unifying themes of the Matrix are birth, life and death.

Upon walking out of the theater tonight, I could see where this philosophy comes from.  (but I couldn't see the parking lot too well because I had my sunglasses on - I dressed as Agent Smith).

The first film gives us Mr. Anderson, who is introduced (or born, if you will) into a world that needs his help. He doesn't understand his purpose, as several people in the world usually don't, but he knows there is a destiny that will drive him further.

The second film gives us themes of life, or to be more specific, what makes life worth living. Love for another, caring for our families, immediate and extended. This drives Neo to protect what matters most - the extended family he is now a part of.

Which brings us to the last film. Death is an inevitability that none of us want to face, because of our love of life and those around us. Neo had to face death, and it seems like the movie spoke directly to the fans. I certainly didn't want the story of the Matrix to end, but I know even the best stories cannot go on forever. It's the remembering that gives stories that touch of immortality.

Maybe I am just overtired.....Anyone else have any thoughts?

I got (and still get) a good laugh at all the pathetic sacks of crap who think the "Holy Trinity" (a moniker that always makes me smirk) is some sort of guideline for life and that the Matrix really does have us.  The webmaster of www.sixsixfive.com (easily one of the funniest sites on the web) pulls a great chat prank on one of these feebs and has it posted for the world to enjoy.

I like the first two. Well, I liked the second, but the beginning was a little slow and dull, and the ending happened to fast and no one was expected a "To Be Continued" so basically, when I sat down to watch the third today I totally hated it, but atleast it ended.

I like the story, and the first one a lot. I haven't seen all of the Animatrix episodes, but will soon

see the animatrix! see them now!!! they were by far the best thing about this entire series.  i saw them all at the cinemas the weekend before reloaded was released and they got me so pumped up for the film.  they are technically very well done [all animation, yet different styles throughout the episodes]

although i love the matrix series to death, i'm afriad that revolutions, for me was fairly dissapointing.  i won't really go into much detail as to why, people really should form an opinion by themselves, but there was just a bit too much missing in that film.  don't get me wrong, i loved it, i just would've preferred a different ending.

i almost hope they release a fourth one to make it a more satisfying ending!

but then again, i think the series might just go on forever and have titles like 'Neo goes to Camp'  or a remake of kindergarten cop starring Agent Smith or something like that.

[btw Hugo Weaving is great in Revolutions, fantastic actor!]

Title: For Fanboys Only...

I get the deep-seated impression that the only people buying the "birth, life and death" or even the idea the film trilogy was supposedly all written up when the Wachoskis tried to sell it are the fanboys...

Reloaded was disappointing but at least it was a passable film. Revolutions wasn't disappointing so much as just bad.
