Title: Reptilicus (1961)
Post by: Scott on November 07, 2003, 10:30:38 PM
REPTILICUS (1961) - Seen this for the first time. I always thought that I had seen this one before. I think maybe I thought it was GORGO or something. Anyway this film must have been made intentionally bad. The creature spews out this green stuff that is the worst special effect ever. How about that commander with his map arguing about the use of firepower. That was some bad acting. Even though this film is watchable.

If you think the green goo was silly, just think about the fact that scenes of the monster flying were cut because they were considered to be too goofy.  I don't think they were shooting for intentional camp, but it sure as hell came off that way.

Yea, I don't know that YONGARY is out there. That would be some double feature wouldn't it? REPTILICUS and YONGARY. Maybe add THE GREEN SLIME.

I  own a copy of the original version of the movie with the flying scenes. In fact, you can see a big still of flying Reptilicus by following this link:

I liked this movie, but Copenhagen being destroyed made me sad, and I didn't understand how they could get an entire monster from just a tail, without including radiation.
And part of it looks kind of like a Danish tourism video.

Yea, I kinda liked the tour of Copenhagen during that film. Almost purchased airline tickets.
