PUPPET MASTERS (1994) - Caught this film on Encore tonight. It stars Donald Sutherland as a Goverment intelligence man and head of an agency. The movie starts out real good then starts to feel like an episode of X-Files. The film reminded me of SHIVERS and INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS as well. The alien creatures were rather creepy and kinda interesting. They looked like those jelly bat things that get Spock during one episode of the original Star Trek series. They attach to the back of a person. The camera work mainly just follows the characters around, but the scenes keep you watching.
I think you'll like this one. Not bad.
I only liked this one because it all starts in Iowa....which is where I'm from. I guess Brother R. & I would be among the first to be infected!
Other than that I thought the film pretty much stank.

Yeah, it was bad. But I was able to enjoy it, unlike that other Sutherland project where he played a salvage boat skipper whose body parts get coopted into an alien robot. Now that was real crap.
I liked the remake of INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS from the 70's. That may be the only remake that I've enjoyed.
The 70s remake was good. The 90s remake was godawful.
Nothing beats the 50s original though. It had real good historical context that the others lacked.
I though it was moderately entertaining, until I read the wonderful book it is based on. Then I started breaking things.

Beat me to the punch, it is a great book
Are there any good movie adaptations of Heinlein's work?
I've never read the book, but I liked STARSHIP TROOPERS.
The movie is vastly different than the book. If the producers had wanted to make a "marines vs. bugs" movie, they shouldn't have used Heinlein's title, which is about the only thing the two have in common.
At first I was dissappointed in STARSHIP TROOPERS simply because I was expecting a real gun ho space movie.
I'd still like to see a serious gun ho type space movie. Using the same fire arms as in STARSHIP TROOPERS. Serious and effective with a good story.

That was Virus. I actually enjoyed that for some reason.
"That was Virus. I actually enjoyed that for some reason."
WOW. More power to you, man. At least Jamie Lee Curtis was in it.
It's so much worse than the book that I wanted to cry when I first (and last) saw it.
I enjoyed "Virus" as well, but only because I saw it on a double session, and the first movie had been "Wild Wild West". Compared to that, even "Virus" is good.
I saw this during it's original theatrical run and I didn't like it at all.
It had a theatre release? I thought it was a TV movie. I guess that speaks books about how good it is.

Yes, it definitely had a theater release. I'm still crying over the money I wasted to see it. I was expecting an intense thriller like INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS, but it didn't even come close.
