Title: Two Mules for Sister Sara (1970)
Post by: Scott on November 25, 2003, 11:29:20 PM
TWO MULES FOR SISTER SARA (1970) - Just played on TCM tonight. In the past I've only seen a few scenes of Shirley MaClaine on a donkey somewhere in the middle of the film, so I never was able to watch it all till tonight. This is a great fun Mexican Revolutionary film starring Clint Eastwood and Shirley MaClaine. Good cinematography and the music is by Ennio Maricone of THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UGLY  and a number of other great movie scores. Neat little story and some fun moments between Eastwood and MaClaine. If you see it you won't be dissappointed. Catch it from the beginning.

I'm sorry but I just can't get over the fact that the title sounds like a horrible farm sex porno!

Curse my dirty mind!!

Hehe!!

The title makes it seem like a lesser Western entry, but indeed it is a very enjoyable and good film. Both of the stars are very good.

A very good way to spend a saturday afternoon if you ask me. It may not be the best of the Siegel / Eastwood films, but that's only because their other movies together ("Dirty Harry" or "The Beguiled") were top notch. It is a comercial movie, and it shows: Eastwood character is a watered down version of the man-with-no-name, and his interaction with McLaine seems a bit forced to me, but the pace and mood are perfect, and Don Siegel really delivers when it comes to action. The attack on the train is one of my favourite moments, and Morricone's music is unforgetable.

Mr. Henry, Just read something about THE HIRED HAND after reading your comment about it. Wow, sounds like a good one. IMDB had all good reviews about it. Starring and directed by Peter Fonda. Some mention it as an obscure Western. It's available on DVD, so I might have to buy it one day. Thanks for the movie tip. Looking forward to this film.
