Title: Eegah (1962)
Post by: Scott on December 03, 2003, 10:50:58 PM
EEGAH (1962) - Phew, that was a good one. I actually liked this film. Actor named Archie Hall Jr. stars as the young singing and dancing hero in this amazing film. Prehistoric man captures young lady and takes her to his cave. It might not sound like much, but it is a must see. This film had elements of all sorts of things:

Music
Beauty and the Beast
Elvis Presley
Dune Buggy
Shot gun
Pool side activity
Desert Scenery
Prehistoric Mummies
Cave (was it the cave of Ro-man in ROBOT MONSTER?)
Encino Man
Giant from the Unknown
Robot Monster
Beast of Yucca Flats

The scene were Eegah lets his mummified relatives sniff the females scarf was to funny. The whole film was fun. Alpha Video has a good copy of it. You can probably find it somewhere for under $10.

Eegah is actually the only draw back in this film as any of the mosters from that time period in film could have been a better pick, but you almost felt sorry for Eegah towards the end.

Hope to catch MST3K version also. As I watched it I had a few comment myself.

I have the DVD where you can play either the MST3K version or the uncut one.

THE CHOPPERS is another good one with Arch Hall Jr.

Oh, ya gotta get the Misty version.
The guys had a real mad on about Arch Hall Jr. Kinda reminded me of Frank's evil twin. Similar hair helmet.

If you liked (liked?) Arch in Eegah try to get your hands on a copy of Wild Guitar -- it's well-night a classic!  Any film that combines the talents (?) of the Arch Halls Jr., and Sr. AND the directing AND acting of Ray Dennis Steckler -- well, what's not to love!

Don't miss Ray's favorite actress, Carolyn Brandt, doing a stunningly untalented interpretive dance to Arch's song, "Vicki"!

Don't miss Ray himself playing badass gangster/sidekick "Steak"!

Bad music, bad acting, bad ice-skating!  It's all here!

Whew!

Ok, I'll be on the look out for WILD GUITAR and CHOPPERS. Isn't he also in THE SADIST? Anyone see that one? Is it any good?

I liked the opening credits of Eegah with the music and the mummy heads.

He is in the sadist but I haven't seen it.  I like the song "I love you Valerie"  and when she tries to look all fetching under the water slide.

The only way to see Eegah is to watch the Mystery Science Theatre 3000 version available on DVD. I own this title and I can't help but laugh every time Joel and the bots scream out in Horror when Archie Hall Jr's face appears on the screen. Oh and for any other Misties out there, this is the first apprearance of Tom Servo's line "Watch out for Snakes!"

The Sadist is a surprisingly good -- and surprisingly nasty -- little B-film -- Arch and Marilyn Manning (Roxie) are both in it and -- shocking! -- bot h ACT.  It's an over-the-top kind of performance but it's completely fitting for the depraved characters they're playing.

Definitely see it -- it shows that if Arch had cared he might have actually turned into a decent little b-movie actor....

Oh boy.
I bought "The nasty rabbit" today, at helf price books.
Arch Hall Jr....in a comedy! Deep Hurting....deep hurting!
The insanity of the plot description got to me. Midget Russian spy...rabbit with bio-wepon round neck...Arch Hall Jr....
No, technicly, Arch is not the Bio-wepon...technicaly....

Nasty Rabbit -- deep DEEP Hurting!  And hardly any Arch Hall, Jr!  Weirdly, this so-called movie is more of a showcase for his old man, Arch Sr.

I think Arch musta been losing interest in movies by this time.  He looks so totally uninterested in the proceedings.  I can almost hear the discussion, "Look, Dad, I'll give you a weekend; maybe two; but THAT'S IT!"

Ugh.
