These are some new reality show coming up soon. What do you think of them?
THE MAD HOUSE
MY BIG FAT OBNOXIOUS WEDDING
THE APPRENTICE
My Big fat obnoxious wedding..is that suppose to cash in on My Big Fat Greek Wedding by any chance? Another one you should have metion was, hold on I fogot the name, it's a reality show about airports and it's security team. That one sounds kind of interesting.
You are writing about "Airline". Even though it is a 1/2 hour comercial for Southwest Airlines, I enjoy it. It's like watching the worst singers on American Idol. You just want to tune in to see how bad it gets.
The only reality show I really enjoy is American Chopper on Discovery. Paul Tuetle is hoot . If you haven't seen it try to tune in.
I ignore the reality shows.
What I want more of is Tremors the series.

No much. I won't be watching. My almost 2 year old daughter is all the reality show I need. ;)
Amen, ulthar
You want reality? Turn off the TV and spend time with your family
Reality TV probably isn't the right term for it.
The only recent reality show I got a kick out of was Joe Schmo. I do like watching The Simple Life, though it is obviously pre-planned.
Yea, Joe Schmo was a good one. I seen all the episodes except the last one.
Of course the original Candid Camera was the greatest "reality" show ever.
>I do like watching The Simple Life, though it is obviously pre-planned.
You mean they're not really as monumentally stupid as they appear on the show?

AAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHH!!!!!!!!
S'cuse me while I supress the Grammar Nazi within....
*ahem*
Better now.
As a rule, I ignore Reality shows, and the new ones you mentioned sound as bad, if not worse than, what is already out there.
I got a kick out of Basic Training, and would watch another season. It was funny, watching all those folks getting yelled at and thinking "These guys wouldn't last a week in the REAL THING."
The best part about Basic Training is that the best person won. It came down to this complete sleeze and this girl who had been really nice to everyone through the whole thing. They had this physical competition, and the sleeze beat the stuffin' out of the girl in it. I lost all hope that she would win...
But then, all the folks that had been kicked out got a chance to vote for who they wanted to win. In order for the girl to win, they had to all vote for her. Each one, in turn, voted for the girl, telling her she was great, and telling the sleeze he was a worthless waste of a human being. She won, the Sleeze went home with nothing, happy ending.
It was awesome.
I hope not. I honestly don't think anyone can be that stupid. LOL
I HATE reality TV shows, for two reasons:
They are invariably watched by stupid people, and the ones in Australia usually incorporate Text Message Voting by the public.
Guess what the biggest group of people with Cellphones in Australia is? (Well, OK, it's everyone, but guess who uses them the most?)
That's right, it's Teeny Boppers aged 12-16. They all vote like crazy, meaning the country's TV entertainment is being dictated by a bunch of 15 year old, fashion obsessed airhead skanks. (Sorry, most of them are.)
As a result, I refuse to watch any reality TV show, with the exception of World Idol- just to see how crap all the contestants were.
[/rant]. :-)
The one about Southwest might be interesting. I hear there are scenes where the attendants have to tell a passenger that he smells too bad to be allowed on the plane, and they have to tell another person that they have to buy two seats.
I kinda like the "Reality Shows". Haven't taken the time to understand why. : ) I think its the closes thing to real without being real. It must be the reactions and imagining yourself going thru the same experiences as those on camera. You know what if you were in their shoes. You kinda put yourself in their place.
I respect anyones dislike of what ever show you don't like, but I have yet to hear any reasons why one wouldn't like them. Help me to understand your reasons. Any thoughts?
I tend to dislike them and haven't watched as much television since they became popular. I have watched a few, but more toward the beginning of the craze. My main beef is that I'd rather watch real actors with a real script, not a bunch of no-talent wannabes. In the future there will be very little "classic' television from this period because studios quit doing shows with actors and scripts and just did reality shows because they cost less to make.
No doubt the past 10 years has been pretty bleak and unmemerable. Some of it has to do with new cable channels, but your point is a good one.

Scott,
I cannot stand the 'reality shows,' but I it certainly does not bother me if you or someone else does. All I have to do is not watch them, which really is not that hard. If you like them, knock yourself out. :)
As to why I and a few others don't like them, there was a bit of a discussion in another thread about a month ago. In the interest of not reposting my views, here's the link:
http://www.badmovies.org/bbs/read.php?f=2&i=54961&t=54961
In brief, my view of them is that they are (a) NOT real (at all) and (b) just insultingly stupid. And not in a fun way.
To each his own!

One of the things I hate about reality shows is that they take up space on the schedule. Networks love then because they're cheap, and that means that for every reality show that gets on the air, a drama, or comedy goes in the trash.
Wow, I just read THE AVERAGE JOE post. The funny thing was that I didn't even read any of that post last month because I wasn't interested in the concept of that particular show. After just reading the old post I see the over whelming dislike for "Reality TV". Wow, I'll have to keep this a private pleasure and watch in super secret silence. : ) Thanks for the imput.
The Simple Life. I live in Arkansas and this is all we heard about in the paper and on the local news when it first started. What is the deal with all these little sluts making the news constantly.
I recently saw a question in the front of the Parade magazine in the Sunday paper asking if Morley Safer from 60 minutes was going to apologize for a comment he made about the mainstream news media being obsessed with 'the slut dujour'. His response was "Not likely!"
I was wondering if you knew any reality shows coming to A&E. I had some ideas. Do you know if they went to or are going to be in Vegas?
Does anyone have any interest in one that is coming up next year, Rock Star? Basically INXS are looking for a new singer, and are holding auditions all over America.....
Just curious cos I sort of know a couple of the guys in the band :-)
