Post by: The Burgomaster on January 19, 2004, 06:20:51 PM
This is listed on Deep Discount DVD's website for $13.20 with a March 9th release date.  The website does not provide many other details at this point.  Let's keep our fingers crossed.

There may be problems with the box set...I heard they're having trouble getting the rights to the Argento cut.  They keep pushing the date back.
I'm going to go ahead and get this and will probably double dip if they do get it together and get the box set released.

Of course, I don't have this on DVD at all.  For those of you who do have it, now is the time to sell!

"...the DVD reissues will walk the Earth! To my left is the cover art for the upcoming single disc edition of the new Dawn Of The Dead DVD from Anchor Bay. Features will include a new 1.85.1 anamorphic Divimax transfer, a commentary with Romero, a new 5.1 remix, and a theatrical trailer..."

Went and got the dvd today and im a bnit sad.  Havent watched it yet but i see that it is not the directors cut and that it is only 1 disc.  Dead was two discs and so i thought dawn would be the same.  O well i finally have it and the whole trilogy sdo i'm happy abou that.

The Theatrical cut IS the Director's Cut, that is, Romero's preferred cut.  And I think it's the best cut of the movie...I own a slightly longer version but the added scenes aren't necessary and slow the film down even more.  It also has less Goblin music.

But the DAWN box set has a release date of September 7, assuming they're actually able to get it out on time.  I think it was originally supposed to be out sometime last year, so we'll see.  I'll buy it mainly for the Argento cut, and hopefully for better special features [this disc out now  has a lot of trailers and TV spots but they're all the same--my VHS copy has more trailers, including some from Europe that are really interesting.]  The best special feature on the new disc is the commentary.

I got mine last Saturday.  It's great for people like me who didn't have it on disc, but I understand it's not as good as the one that's out of print now.  I'm hoping the price on that one will drop a little bit...if so I might think about bidding on it.

I bought it at Best Buy too. I liked the directors' cut best, except some of the music that was changed is from the opening credits of Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
