Title: Fun with newborns
Post by: Evil Matt on January 25, 2004, 12:45:50 AM
So last week my wife gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, and I'd taken the week off to hang out and help around the house.  Turns out a few things have the effect of being an instant calmative on her, not the least of which is the "Army of Darkness:  Boomstick Edition" 2 disc set that I got for Christmas.  For some reason, the sound of Bruce Campbell's voice puts that kid right to sleep.  Sadly, it makes her two older brothers jump around like monkeys shouting "Groovy!".

And yes, this was a not-so-subtle "Hey!  I just had a baby!" post by an overly proud father.  Thankfully I stopped short of posting her picture up here.

Jesus, I'm smitten...

That's great news.  Before you know it, she'll be posting her thoughts on "Plan 9" here!

Yes, children are terrific.  They make up for all the domestic squabbling and the second thoughts of relationships, the petty jealosies and all the hard spaces.  There is nothing like the smell of a baby's breath when you pull them close to kisstheir lips and noses.  Parenthood is a wonder.

I'm happy for you Matt. If you think she loves ARMY OF DARKNESS wait till she gets to play with all your monkey friends. You must be keeping the little one in a seperate room for now saving the best fun(fun with monkeys) for last.  That quote cracks me up everytime.

Yes, congrats.

And as for her thoughts on Plan 9, I shudder at the thought that Criswell's voice would have on her.

You have no idea about what I thought this thread was about before I read it.

I'm a sick man.

I thought it was another  "Crocodile Hunter" thread

Not to resurrect the Croc Hunter thread, but I heard an interesting exchange at work the other day.  Someone was defending him the other day with the same argument some people on this board used: "Oh he knew what he was doing, he's worked his whole life with animals, he was in complete control, he's a professional."

Someone shot back: "Yeah, same with that Roy guy out in Vegas."

End of argument.

Congatulations Matt!

I too have a daughter whom is going on ten months.  It is amazing to hear her try to talk and to see her try to talk.  Last night, she finally mastered the art of standing up by herself.

Hearing her mumble out "daddy" while giving her a hug is the best feeling in the world.

Best of luck to you!

I want to know one thing Evil Matt. Can you tell whose personality  she inherited yet? I have a theory that a person is born with their basic personality, but it can be affected somewhat by environment while growing up.  Sure was true with my kids now 19 and 21.

We knew right away when we brought my daughter home that she was nothing like our son was.  He so much like me it's scary, their friends always comment on it. She is very independent like her Mom.

Have fun raising her!

Congrats on the new seedling!

It's great to see what movies catch their interest. I have a poster of the Matrix in the house, and my daughter will point out Neo and Morpheus every time we go by it.

One time I was flipping around and passed Bloodsport on tv. She looked at the screen and saw the two guys training in the very beginning. Then she looked at me and said "Neo?"

Ahh, good times with the kids....

Neon, good thing your wife let you keep up your posters.

Unfortunatly all of my film posters are in storage at the moment.  Eventually though, once we move to another home, I hope to have my own type of study.  Computer, books, game room etc.  Then I'll break out the posters once again!

Well, if she lets me.

:o)
