Title: JOURNEY TO THE SEVENTH PLANET (1962)
Post by: The Burgomaster on February 13, 2004, 07:30:09 AM
This is a great "fill in" movie when you aren't really sure what you are in the mood to watch, and you don't have much time (it is only 77 minutes long).

In the future (2001), John Agar and a group of Swedish astronauts travel to Uranus and encounter a series of hallucinations caused by a giant, one-eyed brain living in a cave.  The movie is bad in just about every way, including:

* At least one line of ridiculous dialogue every 30 seconds

* Silly costumes

* Terrible visual effects, including tinted film, cheap animation, and a stupid model rocket ship

* A sort of "romantic" (????) theme song during the end credits

* The equipment inside the rocket basically consists of several oscilloscopes and reel-to-reel tape players

77 minutes of pure hilarity.  Highly recommended,

John Agar in a sci-fi film, Count Me-In (the rare agreeable count).
Unless, it's Curse of the Swamp Creature.
Stock footage is better than re-using the same scene over and over.... again.

This has got to be a good bad movie. It was directed by Sidney Pink who also directed Reptilicus and wrote The Angy Red Planet.

JOURNEY TO THE SEVENTH PLANET was a weird 60's Sci-Fi film. Not bad, I would wait till it comes on cable someday. I liked the companion film INVISIBLE INVADERS a little better on the MGM Midnight Movies double feature. Especially when the plane hits the big white X on the mountain side.

I love the way they call it "Your-Ah-Ness" the whole time.  I guess this was to keep people from snickering about the anus joke.  I think that it calls more attention to the dumb little joke.

Also, the really funny thing.  When the Commander is out of it for some time and the rest of the crew goes ahead and entertains themselves with the fake women.  They already knew the girls were created by an evil intelligence!  What in the heck?

Oh, twas prime swedish cheese. Ya got John ( I paid Shirly Temple allimony) Agar, the "Constipated bulldog" who played Mark Grayson in Reptillicus, and a bunch of well rounded babes. Yery well rounded.
"A bunch of horny space bums in a spam can", i called 'em on first sight. How right i was!
The movie starts of saying "The U. N. is the world governing body"....yeah, A Kofi Anan wet dream.
And yeah, lets not forget tiptoeing on the pronounciation of U-Ran-us....Evidently, this is a joke with DEEP, deep roots!
Ah, the good/bad film strikes agine!
