Title: Movie Casting
Post by: gammaray117 on February 15, 2004, 11:45:57 PM
Believe it or not, a film agency is interested in my film idea (remember my post?). They asked me about casting, any big names I wanted. Several characters are left out. Here's what I had in mind(in case of multiples, listed in order of who I think's best):

Kickboxing freelance reporter: Uma Thurman
Enigmatic British aristocrat: Timothy Dalton
Marines colonel: Alec Baldwin, Christopher Walken, James Darren
Scheming British villian: John Rhys-Davies, George Lazenby, Sean Connery
Wisecracking explosives expert: Bruce Campbell. Without a doubt.
Corrupt policeman on villian's payroll: Johnny Depp, Owen Wilson
British hitman: Orlando Bloom, Pierce Brosnan
British chief of hitmen: Edward Fox, George Lazenby

Need ideas for weasely Russian, Danish mercenary, and ruthless French assassin.

I would recommend Tchéky Karyo as the ruthless French assassin.

Danish Mercenary:
Jean-Claude Van Damme

I think Sean Bean or whoever played Gregor in RONIN would be better than Van Damme as the Dane. Could we have the names of the characters in doubt, Gamma?
Alec Baldwin seems better as a Marines officer than Walken or Darren. Campbell and Dalton definitely have my approval, but Thurman seems too much of a martial artist compared to the unsophisticated, improvised fighting style I'm linking with the journalist, but you would know better. Finally, I think Fox has retired and Lazenby is now some kind of sportscaster. Good luck.

Because you asked politely twice, Fritz, here you go.

Danish mercenary: Adolphus Vorbind
French assasin: Vincent (no surname needed or necesary)
Russian pyromaniac: Dmitri Zakischov

You're dead on about Thurman's character (Sarah Fox) and her fighting style. I approve of the guy from RONIN as Vorbind, as long as he's up to the challenge of grappling with Dalton while the two fall down a flight of stairs. If you want the other character's names, just say so and I'll comply gladly.

I want the names of the mysterious Brit, scheming villian, Marines colonel, and explosives man with a huge chin.

Respectively:
Seamus O'Bannon
Dominic Maltez(Yes, he is British still)
Colonel Arthur Whitaker
Ian Lowell
I think Lowell is the most interesting character I've created. A former cop, he's never been quite the same after shooting three criminals dead in the line of duty. His glib manner masks a real weariness and aversion to killing. Finally, he manages to overcome his personal doubt and fear to save Sarah from a particularly vicous henchwoman of Maltez by shooting her.
