Just watched this one the other night and I found it to be quite good for the most part.
I had actually read about the true story this film is based on in an old issue of Maxim Magazine so I had some knowledge about the story going into it.
Macauley Culkin's performance is so-so.
There are times where he is excellent and then there are times when his acting is downright terrible but for the most part he has embodied the role of Michael Alig "King of the Club Kids".
Seth Green however steals the show as James St. James.
This is without a doubt in my opinion one of the best performances I have ever seen Green in.
The film has a lighthearted touch to it throughout which I felt was unecessary especially near the end when Alig kills the drug dealer.
They needed to drop that light tone and make the film much darker during these scenes but they didn't.
Other than that I felt it was a pretty decent movie.
Definitely worth a look.
Go here to read Roger Ebert's full review:
He gave it 3 out of 4 stars and I feel that his rating is appropriate.

A and E just did a criminal Bio on Micheal Alig pretty interesting story. He's not a serial killer so I suport the story. The serial killer craze out there is just stupid... and that's not what Party Monster is about. Ya know I think Makali Culkin can make a pretty interesting B movie star if he wanted to be. But definatly not a good movie star LOL
I thought I'd bring this one back because when I wrote it, the film had just come out.
Have any of you seen this one yet and if so, what did you think?

Ash, I'm interested in catching it, but our lovely wanna-be chainstore down the street still hasn't got it yet.
I liked it. You're definitely right that Seth Green steals the whole show, though Culkin is quite good here and there.
Nothing great, but a good, freaky little movie. I also gave it 3 out of 4 stars.

Seth Green definitely made this movie. He was great. Manson was hilarious in his small role, Fezz was very sympathetic, and the kid who played Ricki on My So Called Life, died well.
Culkin was good, but I don't think he pulled off the "Femme Queen" thing as well as Green did, he came off more as a straight guy's conception of a queen. Also, he seemed to be trying for an English accent in a few scenes, but maybe he was just emphasizing what a pretentious twat Alig is. On the other hand, I thought Culkin did a really good job of making Alig a likable character. I hope this bodes well for Culkin's future acting career.
Overall, pretty damned good, I have the documentry on order at netflix, we'll see how truth compares with fiction. My advice to the producers...a transgendered buddy-cop/road picture with Seth Green and Manson as James St.James and Christina.
