Has anyone else seen the exceedingly bad film "Elephant".
It was aimed at being "the story that inspired Bowling For Columbine - great film.
Apparently it won a best director award at Cannes last year- f following around 5 or 6 actors for 2 hours with a steady cam is good direction give me Goodfellas anyday.
Absolute pile of pony !!!
I thought this movie was brilliant, especially the way it was structured.
I love the way that the entire first hour focuses almost entirely on only the period of about 15 minutes before the massacre, seen from several different students' perspectives. As they cross paths with each other, it puts you right in the middle of the action and by the time the shooting occurs you know the entire layout of that school and you know exactly where all the characters you've been following are going to be when it starts.
The last 20 minutes, during the massacre, is some of the most powerful material I think I've ever seen, and you can't help but think "This is what it was like in Columbine on that day". Gut-wrenchingly realistic but surreal - and then it just ends. No closure, no answers. I think it's a masterpiece - I saw it twice and both times my heart was pounding in my chest when the credits started to roll.
I highly recommend to anyone who hasn't to check out the trailer at www.elephantmovie.com - and check out the movie when it comes out on DVD.
