THE GUNS OF NAVARONE, with possibly Alec Baldwin as either Mallory or Miller. Who would be good as Andrea, though?
Any other suggestions?

Alec Baldwin? Yech! Sorry, but he's someone like Tom Cruise, who always seems to be himself in whatever role he's playing. But for Andrea, how about R. Lee?
Can't remember the name of David Nivens' demolitions expert character, but if it was remade, it'd definately have to be a British actor. Someone new, as at the moment all I can think of is Hugh bloody Grant and they guy how played that wimpy looking pansy Darcy in that period drama! As for Alec Balwin....ewwww! Who else would you have? Jean Claude Van Damme and Michelle "All men are evil!" Rodriguez?
Wha- no! Are you insane? Why would they have Van Damme? But you're right about Alec Baldwin, I meant *Stephen* Baldwin. Miller would be his kind of role. (In the novel, Miller was American, while Mallory was a Kiwi.) The remake should also have no Pappadimos and the self-doubting rookie Andy Stevens in place of Roy Franklin. Also, the watchtower scene should be included. The cliff climb and caique shootout should be made more intense to keep a modern audience interested, but it should still tackle the issue of the morality of war.
I can just see the beginning of Stevens' disillusionment with the war, right after the caique gunfight. A badly burned German survivor floats in the water calling for help. Stevens grabs a rope to throw to him, but Mallory walks up with a Sten and empties it into the helpless man's chest. Stevens is horrified, and along with Miller, becomes antangonistic and resentful to Mallory. However, dying from gangarene, he finally makes peace with himself, Mallory, and the world he fears when he demands to be left in the pass to hold off the Alpenkorps.

The Killer Shrews, and a more faithful-to-the-novel version of Carnosaur.

Has someone made a film of Carnosaur? I found a copy of that novel in a charity shop for 20 pence, thiking it would be something to pass the time, but instead found it rather a good read, with some nice character development, and a plot twist that would make it a much nastier scenario to Jurassic Park. Alan Rickman would be great as the villain of the peace in that one!
The novel rocks. Roger Corman made a movie of it, which is quite good but nothing like the book, and three sequels followed. The second one is okay, the third is fun to me simply because I love dinosaurs, and the fourth one is called Raptor, although I've dubbed it "Carnosaur's Greatest Hits Live on Ice" because all it is is a few poorly contrived scenes used to get lookalike actors into situations where they can reuse the dino attack footage from the first three films. Watch them in order, then have fun yelling "Ooh look, this is going to lead into this scene from Carnosaur 1 2 or 3!"

I was sort of looking forward to a remake of either ROCKY IV or FRIDAY THE 13TH, PART VII.
