Title: Spoilers on IMDB. OooOooO (Spoilers)
Post by: J perk on April 21, 2004, 11:35:44 AM
The following post contains spoilers for Kill Bill Vol2, Versus, and Ichi the Killer

OKay I decided to look up a few quotes for my away messages on AIM and went to IMDB.  This is something I do on a regular basis.  One time I went to the Ichi the Killer page (before I had seen the movie.) because I had finally received the movie in the mail and was on my way to watch it.  Lo and behold my surprise when I read (Falling to his death) Kakihara:  Wow this is amazing. ...

Now I was taken aback because now I knew that Kakihara died.  But I guess that was a given.  Well I went to the Kill Bill vol2 page and of course I see

(dying) Bill:  How do I look?
The Bride:  You look ready.

Or even worse under the goofs section:
After the Bridge administers the five point palm exploding heart technique to Bill, he takes six steps, instead of the supposed five, before dying.

Good thing I saw that movie even though it was once again kind of obvious that Bill dies.  But man did they have to tell how?

But the one that really got me was for Versus

Prisoner KSC2-303: There's nothing left to destroy in this world. Now take me to the other side... brother!

That ruined the whole ending for me because I knew that somehow Prisoner ksc2-303 was going to turn out evil.

Now I know maybe I should stop going to the IMDB pages before I see certain movies to avoid the spoilers but then again I also think that maybe they should put a spoiler warning on certain quotes likie they do on certain trivia items .  What is your opinion or examples where movies were somewhat ruined for you by IMDB.  Or am I the only 1

There's supposedly some policy that if a person posts spoilers without giving a warning first, they will be banned from having any more of their reviews posted.  But obviously they don't pay any attention to their own rules.  I suppose it's hard because if the person approving the review hasn't seen the movie, they don't know what constitutes a spoiler.

Personally, I quit reading a review immediately if it sounds like any concrete information about the movie is coming up.  I don't care if it ruins the ending, or just ruins the first five minutes.  I really like to watch a movie having no idea what is coming up.  A lot of movies have some sort of mystery that is slowly revealed throughout the picture, and reading any review that gives away even a hint of it can ruin the suspense.

I usually stick to reading the professional reviews, here or at Rotten Tomatoes or the Editorial Reviews at Amazon.com or a whole bunch of other sites.  At least you know they're not going to have any real spoilers.

Prisoner KSC2-303 turns evil! WTF?

I thought that he was going to fight the villian until they were both dead, and in Hell, so they could just destroy Hell cause there "was nothing left to destroy on Earth" as Prisoner KSC2-303 says.

Dolma,

Once Prisoner KSC2-303 had the power, he did use it for evil.  That is why in the end it show a full-on distopian society.  He has destroyed the world and now has nothing left to destroy.

This also leads back to one of the earlier fights when the evil brother tells Prisoner KSC2-303 that he used to be a man of justice and that he had changed (something like that).
