So, it seems that Richard Kelly's 'Donnie Darko' is finally going to get a wide release later this summer. The film only made around 500,00 in it's original limited run but has gone on to make somewhere around 10mil in DVD sales.
For anyone who loves this amazing genre bending flick as much as I do, check out the new promo poster:

Look at the tag line! The man suit quote is one of the best in the film other than the feces line, which is still hilarious even the 100th time. Anyway, just thought I'd give everyone a heads up on this. I'll try to post some theater dates once they are released.
Also, post your comments on the poster. I think it is friggin awesome! Great to see a REAL film getting some respect.
When I first saw this I went 'wow'. Then I went and saw it at an outdoor cinema with 500 other people who all in unison went 'wow' when the man suit line came on.
Great cult movie that hopefully won't get ruined by people who want to make money off a good thing. [just imagine a bunch of Hollywood suits sitting at a round table saying "now let's talk sequel, maybe they can wear dog suits, ideas anyone?'']
Thats just a horrible image in itself.
When will it get released? I want to see it in theaters. It deserves one.
I always got the feeling that nobody was more impressed with this movie that the writer himself. He thought he was being awfully clever but it just wasn't there
I'm a college educated individual with a good job and family. I have always considered myself pretty sharp and up on what is cool. I must, however, admit...........I don't get this film.
Dolma,
Not sure of the exact release date, but it shouldn't be too long. I can't wait to see it! About a half hour of extra footage!
And to Jay and George, I must say that you should watch it again. This movie really takes more than one viewing. Deep down it is a beautiful dark, drama with just enough comedy throughout.
