1964 - Hercules - Kirk Morris
Samson - Richard Lloyd
Ulysses - Enzo Cerusico
Delilah - Leiana Orfei
I watched this last night after the Harryhausen double feature on TCM.
A shipwrecked bunch of Greeks land in Judiah, meet the Danites, the Philistines, and eventually Samson. The guy playing Herc is a Steve Reeves look a like and Samson is one muscle bound dude. Ulyssses as portrayed here (comic relief?)is one skinny little dude.
Anyway there is a case of mistaken identity which puts Hercules in the position of having to bring Samson to the Philistines or Ulysses and crew will be murdered. He and Delilah trick Samson into revealing himself resulting in the big showdown complete with bolder and granite block throwing. Once they figure out what's going on the two are instant friends and hatch a plot to free Herc's crew.
Things I learned about ancient Greeks and Hebrews from this movie:
1. There were no cows in ancient Greece.
2. Danites were not into that kinky one exposed shoulder and pectoral, miniskirt style that the Greeks were so wild about.
3. Ancient Greek men enjoyed chicken plucking more than skinny-dipping with gorgeous Philistine women.
4. Spears being hurled sounded like flying saucers from old 50's SciFi movies.
5. Styrofoam has been around a very long time.
6. Philistines built their temples on skids like modern portable buildings.
This is one epic piece of Italian made cheese. The bad dubbing, weird sound effects , and sometimes hilarious dialogue make this fun to watch.
I wanted to see this one so bad, but forgot it was on. Hopefully it comes on at a more reasonable hour next time. I think it was suppose to air around midnight.
After watching the greatness of Jason and the Argonauts, I couldn't even bare to sit through 20 minutes of this thing. Guess it's really not my kind of movie.

To tell the truth, I was waiting up for my daughter to get off her new job at the local cineplex and I couldn't find much else on to watch.
This must have been written by the same person who penned "Hercules in New York." On the other hand, really bad Italian sword and sandal flicks are awesomely amusing for me to watch. I'm going to have to try and find this.
This is on my list of movies to watch and love
Back in the 70's when I was teenager one of the local channels had a program on Friday night called The Sons of Hercules which I consisted of Italian Maciste (Macho Man) films. No one had heard of this character in the US so they renamed him a lot and gave him a theme song.
The Mighty Sons of Hercules
Once thundered through the years;
These men of steel could never feel
The curse of a coward's fears!
The Mighty Sons of Hercules
Were men as men should be;
They burned with dreams, and turned their dreams
Into history!
A hundred giants, brave and bold,
They ruled the earth in days of old.
Of course the dubbing was there and my friend from up the street and I had a great time doing the MST3K thing to these, sometimes creating our own dialogue which was probably better than the films real dialogue. I also saw several of the Steve Reeves films. Watching these brings back the nostalgia from my boyhood.
A few months ago I bought HERCULES UNCHAINED for $6.99. It's a good old fashioned Italian sword and sandal film. Very Entertaining.
