I was listening to the radio when I heard "Closer" by Nine Inch Nails. I was wondering if there was a way to get ahold of the edit they used on the radio. They drop out 'F*****' and replace it with a whipcrack sound effect. Does anyone know this version, or know where one might obtain it?
Nope, but this does remind me of a couple of song edits. There's one Tom Petty song where the line goes "so let's roll another joint" but I've also heard radio stations play a version with the line "so let's roll on down the road". Totally asinine.
And something I've always wondered about is how the line from Pink Floyd's Money
"this do goody good bulls**t" made it past the censors. It's not bleeped or anything, and even though they're British, their English comes through quite clear.
Why are you looking for the edited version? To let people listen to how awful it sounds?
Because the singer says "F*ck" in this whiny little voice in the full version that does nothing for me. In the 'clean' version they replaced it with this extremely f*cking awsome bullwip crack that implies every obscene act I can think of (and that is a very long list) so as I said, has anyone heard this or know where I can get it?

I've always wondered...in the Who song "Who Are You" does Roger Daltrey at one point say "Who the f**k are you?" It always sounded like it to me.
I wonder if it's just a case of people not caring much about cursing in classic rock--the listeners are mostly adult and maybe people don't care too much if there's a few curse words here or there.
Um, when "Who are you" came out, those listening to it were teens, not adults. It was the late 60s/early 70s and standards were loosening. George Carlin's seven dirty words did get played on the radio, at least until some twit kept listening to it in order to get offended.
Maybe the "f**k" is too indistinguishable to get upset about.
