GIANT MONSTERS, ANCIENT RHYTHMS, JAPANIMATION... AND MR. LOBO INVADE DOWNTOWN Â
SACRAMENTO WITH A JAPANESE SCI-FI SUPERSHOW ON AUGUST 21 Â
On the heels of the successful Midnight Movie SpookShow, syndicated Â
horror host Mr. Lobo presents the long-awaited “Mr. Lobo’s Japanese Sci-Fi SuperShow Mach 2†at the Crest Theatre on Saturday, August 21. Â
This pop-culture schlockfest is sponsored by “B Mania Televisionâ€, a national cable network specializing in fun Z-grade cult films which will be picked up by Roseville’s SureWest Cable system starting in July 2004. Â
Honorable prizes, an inscrutable contest, an ancestral Speed Racer Â
cartoon and other happy fun super-wacky 16mm shorts from the Land of the Rising Sun are only some of the delights that await fair-weather fans and true Cinsomniacs â€" as well as MEGAPHANT, a radioactive cyber-mammoth from parts west. Â
For the first time west of the Rockies, an entire episode of “Cinema Â
Insomnia†will be presented on the big screen, featuring the giant Â
pterodactyl epic “Monster From a Prehistoric Planet,†supplied by B Â
Mania TV. Their representative will be in attendance to rally support for the inevitable takeover of the entertainment-industrial complex by B Mania, of which “Cinema Insomnia†will of course be a part. Â
Fans who bring their Blood-O-Vision glasses or CI Decoder Ring will Â
receive a one-dollar rebate on the price of admission. In a radical Â
departure from previous SuperShows, the August 21 event will commence at 10:30 p.m. (instead of the usual 12:22 a.m.). Â
“Mr. Lobo’s Japanese Sci-Fi SuperShow Mach 2†starts at 10:30 P.M. on Saturday, August 21, at The Crest Theater (1013 K Street, Sacramento). Â
Admission is $9.50. Portions of the night’s festivities will be recorded Â
for broadcast on an upcoming episode of “Cinema Insomniaâ€. Â
