I really hope "Catwoman" bombs- and I'm sure I'm not alone. Fortunately, critics everywhere are bashing it into the ground. It has one of the lowest ratings I've ever seen on 'Rotten Tomatoes.'
It goes without saying that I won't see it... but how about any of you?
My prediction is that it won't make more than $15 Mill it's opening weekend, and won't top $25 Mill during it's entire theatrical run. Do you think that sounds about right?
They are trying their best to hype this up, but it really looks stupid.
Just curious, why do you hope it bombs?
To me, it looks like an afternoon cheesefest.
I don't even consider it a real attempt to make a real movie. They're just taking a mildly tittalating part of another movie, replacing Pfiefer with the Pfiefer of the week, and padding it out. The only appeal that the movie version of that character ever had was that she kind of makes guys popos feel funny, if they've got to do it, they should just do it as porn.
I really liked Stone in Total Recall, she beat the crap out of Schwartzenegger and I bought it. I think that means that one of them was a better actor there than usual.

You ever see a trailor for a movie and think, "wow, now I HAVE to see that", then you go and find the trailor is better than the movie? You ask if we think it will do well and if we will see it ...well, let me put it this way...after seeing the trailor, I had no intrest whatsoever in seeing it. They are trying to catch the comic craze of how much money Spiderman had made...you can see right through it.
I don't think it is even worthy of a cheezefest as someone mentioned, for they are tryng to be a mainstream blockbuster and all they saw was $$$$$$$$$$$.
Initial reviews are NOT looking good at all.
Movies.com has several of them by major critics and 9 of them gave it a negative review while 2 critics had mixed feelings about it.

most hilarious movie of the year, I won't fork any money over just to see this thing though, the reviews are funny enough to read, the main villain is a cosmetic company, now that's just asking for failure
I've been reading through the message boards at IMDB, there's some real venom out there among comic fan purists about this one. To the point of the few diehards who are looking forward to it (granted some of their comments are odd and childish) are being accused of being studio plants to try to counteract the bad publicity. I realize studios do this kind of stuff in the era of AICN and such, but the ones arguing in favor of "Catwoman" seem so dumb and out of it that I think they are really sock puppets for the film's haters there to shadowbox with.
I'll say $17 million opening weekend, and fade very quickly. It'll get massacred (kind of like King Arthur")and be a bomb here but I don't think it'll be as big a disappointment financially as "Around the World in 80 Days".
I fear this one will suck big time, at least at this moment it is looking like it will.
Since when did Catwoman become one of the good guys? I know at the end of Batman Returns, she was sorta good, but still, she's supposed to be a villain.

i love comic books and been collecting since forever. ive never been a purist about comic book movies (people who didnt like daredevil because the kingpin was black or something stupid). i understand you have to change aspects of the the comic book to get on the big screen. granted i didnt like the new punisher cause i felt they changed it too much but thier were other things that bugged me as well about the movie. as for catwomen i see it as a movie fan. the movie just doesnt look enjoyable.

I'm a huge comic nerd and I just get angry every time I see the preview. This movie cannot be good in any sense whatsoever. It really has nothing to do with the comic book catwoman, it's a completely different character with the same name. I heard somewhere that the plot discribes a "line of catwomans" in which Berry's character is the successor.
But even if I ignore the fact that it's sacreligious towards comicdom, the movie just doens't look entertaining. Berry is not that good of an actress. Hopefully she will at least be more well written than Storm from X-Men, but I doubt that too.
My alter ego could be comic book guy with all the useless comic book knowledge I have. This movie will not do well, methinks.
Poor Sharon Stone. She really is talented, yet gets cast in such awful things -- sort of like Sean Young. Both of these actresses have a reputation of mental instability in Hollywood, so only risk-taking/first-time directors currently seem willing to cast them. This is a damn shame, as both Stone and Young are incredibly interesting to watch onscreen.
Re. Catwoman. Release it on DVD as a double-feature with Battlefield Earth, and you've got something!

She looks damn fine to me. She just needs a better script & director.
Any money this movie makes will be from pubescent boys. I have a feeling that posters of Berry in the Catwoman suit will be very big sellers, even if the movie doesn't make much.
I find this movie annoying for the simple reason that there are plenty of good, established comic book heroes, created and developed by people who knew what they were doing, who have yet to get a movie, but Hollywood has opted to create a new heroine by lifting a classic villainess from a crappy sequel, where she'd already gotten the Hollywood treatment, and altering her even further, to the point where she's a completely different character riding on an established name.

Just the same, I'm fighting the urge to see it just so I can criticize it properly, but I don't want to add to the gross. Had the same problem with Fahrenheit 9/11.
I'll grant her perfection of face, but it seems like there should be more going on further down if we're supposed to be drooling with our eyes popping out.
