I was just thinking about this movie, recalling that it is less than a year away. Was wondering when the talking would begin. It also seems like a teaser should be popping up in theatres any time now.

I don't care about the title, I want good acting, directing, and a good script.

Wasn't this one of titles that fans have been kicking around for years? Considering how disappointing the first two prequels have been, I'm dreading the coming of the same cycle of manipulation of fans and the milking of free publicity that Lucas sent us through before. If this one somehow turns out to be a cut above the previous ones, I'll be glad and surprised. He just has too many loose threads and expectations since certain things have to lock into place to set up what happens in the original trilogy.

it has the potential to be the best star wars movie ever.  Lucas has alot of possibilities open to make a damn good story out of it all.
on the most basic story level, I hope that Anakin becomes Vader early in the movie, because as we all know Vader supposedly wiped out the Jedis SINGLE-HANDEDLY, and that would be awesome to see.
I predict that Qui Gon Jinn is going to be revealed as the ultimate pawn, and the one who brought everything to a horrible end.  He insisted on Anakin's training and abilities, turned Anakin against Obi-Wan, and also against the Jedi Order.
I also think there is a possiblity that Anakin's father will be revealed in Ep. III....could it be Palpatine?  That would be ultimately cool, because then we would see a father son dynasty of the Empire planned by Palpatine.

I won't see this movie. I was too disappointed by the previous prequel flicks to bother with it. Plus I have no faith in Lucas being able to cram so much story into such a small time frame... he basically wasted his time with filler nonsense during the first two films. Now he only has roughly 2 hours to tell the story of Vader's conversion. Good luck with that.

Agreed, this movie will have to accomplish a great deal, if it is to tie up the loose ends and properly set up the original. Also agreed that the previous movies could have accomplished more toward that end. Frankly, I still haven't seen a lot of the things I was hoping to see in Episode I. Still, Lucas might finally hear the fans. The last two movies were already generating a lot more buzz by this time. So far, it's been less. A lot of fans are p**sed off, and many have written off the last movie. As somebody already mentioned, they depend a lot on the fans to talk the movie up for months ahead of time. If interest is waning, it might prompt them to make a better movie.

What I've been finding so far is pretty lame. I found one site claiming to have possession of leaked script details. These were things like Padme will die, and Luke and Leia will be hidden away, and Palpatine will seize control. Oh, stop it, don't give away so much!

Personally, I wasn't impressed with the last two, but I didn't hate them. They just weren't up to the calibre of their predecessors. There was also a shameless amount of stuff that was in there for no reason but to sell toys and video games, but lots of movies are guilty of that. I'm cautiously looking forward to Episode III.

My preference would be for Anakin to become Vader about mid-movie, but the familiar Vader suit and mask should be saved for the very end. Have Obi-Wan and Vader battle during the movie's climax, dump the baddie in the lava pit, and have the heroes assume he's dead. Then finish the movie aboard an Imperial medical ship, where we hear the old familiar breathing, and classic Vader emerges menacingly. Roll credits.

Another Lucas CGI vehicle...super...

Now there's a depressing thought. I'd forgotten about the CGI (it was pretty forgettable). I suppose we can hope that the story and acting are better, but it would be too much to ask that Lucas get his head out of his ass, and realize that the models looked better.

I'll be really p**sed off if I don't see more familiar ships and droids in this one. A lot of the rebel equipment in the original trilogy was pretty old, and we've yet to see anything like it. That's always been my biggest complaint - there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of concern for making this Star Wars universe look like it could evolve into the look of the earlier films over a couple of decades. I think the first real effort was in the closing scene of Episode II. Too little, too late.

But I will remain optimistic until I see this one.

I have to say, that realistically - if Lucas had one good idea, whatever makes anyone think that the tired old hack can make a decent film now? Will he somehow have magically gained the ability to write, direct or edit a film that doesn't rely purely on mediocre CGI?

I'm not saying that the film will be bad - I'm simply saying, it's pointless to start hoping that maybe Lucas can stop being an idiot.
