Title: Constantine - Matrix ripoff?
Post by: Harry on July 25, 2004, 12:07:55 PM
I'm a big fan of the John Constantine Hellblazer comics, they're damn good.  So, naturally, when I heard there was a movie being made, I was excited...until I found out that Keanu Reeves is playing the lead role of John Constantine.  I've seen the trailer and to me it just looks like sombody is trying to capitalize on the Matrix's success AGAIN.
Constantine was meant for Sting, Garth Ennis had him in mind whilst writing the character...Keanu Reeves isn't brittish, blonde, or hardcore enough.

Alan Moore created him in 'Saga of the Swamp Thing #37'

i have already heard comic fans scream bloody murder over this one. i enjoy the comic as well and its one of those movies that should not have a big name actor as the star and especially for one who sucks in most of his movies.

that is very interesting because I've never read entertainment weekly...okay wait it's not that interesting because if you've seen anything from the movie it's PAINFULLY and SADLY obvious :)
and I'm aware that Alan Moore created Constantine, but when Ennis started writing him, he said that he was thinking of Sting.
