i was just curious if we could somehow donate some bread once ANDREW gets to iraq and come up with a message board list of stuff we'd like to send ANDREW...???

I'm in if someone can put it together. They probably have access to email too. I know a woman at work whose husband is over there and she said that it takes about three weeks to get a package there. She sends him something every week and she said one time he received about three weeks worth all at once.
I hope this gets a lot of responses and we get some good ideas about what to send. I'll give it some thought myself and get back.
I work at Osco Drug store and I know that alot of people come in and buy stuff for care packages for their loved ones overseas..stuff like beef jerky,nuts,canned meats, baby wipes (to clean off with) ..those little packets of aspirin. Theres all kinds of goodies to send.
Don't worry about me folks. We are still sitting at Camp Pendleton, but getting ready to get on our flight. Hopefully the waiting game will be over soon.
All in all, I am very self-sufficient. My big worries were SAPI plates, goggles, and a good drop holster for my sidearm. All done (the SNCOs were not allowed to bring rifles). But, heck, if I need firepower I'll get on a 240G or M2
Anyway. I do have my laptop with me, so when I am safe on the base I could actually write some reviews (got a hard case with a few DVDs in it). Waiting to see what my life over there will look like, because I will be the data chief for the entire Combat Service Support Group. I should have access to drop a word now and then.
Thanks again for the thought, but worry more about the younger Marines and soldiers. They are the ones that always worry me. I have a loving wife, a handful of a daughter, am expecting a son in January, and have lots of outlets I like. Life is good. Plus, I have done this time and again. The young Marines are subject to the emotional stresses of being far from family, losing girlfriends, and all that mess.
Andrew, are the magazines in your gun factory berretta or the aftermarket checkmate magazines?
I've heard that aftermarket checkmate magazines are inferior and
many soldiers have had problems with them.
Just wanted to bring this up in case you haven't heard about this issue.

I have the good old government issue. They are in good shape and I just cleaned them before stowing them away. Along with the pistol range about a month ago, I had the opportunity to fire about 500 rounds through the pistol (from both mags). Not one misfeed or jam in all the times I have fired it, so I am pretty happy with my pistol. Its only quirk is having some of the blacking rubbed off the front site tip. In bright sunlight it moves the strike of the round up and to the right. About 8 inches at 25 yards. I automatically compensate now, or else I'd get the armorer to fix that problem.
How about this, when you hit the ground there, maybe we can set up a package for distribution for any guys you know that need it. Or some such thing, I'm just thinking "aloud" here
Anyway, stay safe and all that. We all can agree there.

I know that's not really politically correct, but you could film awesome italian horror movies in one. In "lying liars" al franked said the chandelier he saw there was the biggest one he'd ever seen by tenfold. I tell ya, whenever I see a chandalier all I think about is when will it fall or someone swinging on it.

Honestly guys, I think these are excellent ideas for a fund. I would be more than happy to post my college address to send out a check to one of those two orgs in order to support Andrew and our men in Iraq in support of Badmovies.org. I could also build a website to store donations if u do not trust me personally.
On a sidenote, I hope you bring Rocky Horror Andrew. No matter how angry those Iraqis may be, everyone must do the time warp.
That is a good idea Ken. We always end up with someone who could really use something at home. Also, we end up with some guys who are married and have children. They can be on severe budgets, especially if they are a junior Marine.
We always try to look out for each other too. If another Marine needs something and I have a spare, they are welcome to it. You always run into this with consumables, like razor blades or such. Hopefully the supply situation is better over there now, the Marine I am replacing gave me a heads up email and it seems like it.
ANDREW, if you do have access to e.mail when you get to iraq and you or someone else could use some letters or snacks or toiletries or whatever, drop us a line and i'm sure us message borders can work something out...

I;'ve given to SoA before, they seem to be above board, keeping me updated with what's going on. I wouldn't hesitate to give to them again. And count me in for helping out Andrew and others over there who need stuff.
