Title: Bruce A Super Hero!
Post by: Mr_Vindictive on August 17, 2004, 01:03:32 PM
Looks like Bruce finally landed another role.  This time in a Disney superhero flick along side Kurt Russel.  Here is the news from joblo.com:

"The Disney comedy SKY HIGH, the story of an academy for budding superheroes, has added three new actors today. Bruce Campbell, Lynda Carter and David Foley have signed on to join stars Kurt Russell, Kelly Preston and Michael Angarano (young William Miller in ALMOST FAMOUS). The film follows a young boy, Jeremy, struggling to fit in as a freshman at Sky High because, among other things, of his apparent lack of superpowers. Campbell will star as Coach Boomer, the school's gym teacher (how great is that casting?), Carter will star as the school's principal and Foley will star as Mr. Boy, the "teacher of sidekicks". Russell and Preston play the boy's parents in the film, Commander Stronghold and Josie Jetstream. Both Campbell and Carter have experience with superheroes - Campbell has had roles in both SPIDER-MAN films and Carter was, of course, the original Wonder Woman on the 1976 TV series. Foley is probably best remembered for "The Kids in the Hall" or "NewsRadio" and can now be seen as the host of Bravo's "Celebrity Poker Challenge". Disney is requiring all the young actors who sign on as SKY HIGH's students sign an option for sequels and a possible Disney Channel series should the film warrant either follow-ups."

Wow!
That sounds pretty wild.

I may have to check that out when it's released.

Bruce is really kicking ass!  Check out this info I just found:

"Rumors began almost immediately after the opening weekend of FREDDY VS. JASON. Who would they have battling the duo in a sequel? While there were others - Michael Myers, Pinhead, et al - the one rumor that had the most steam behind it was FREDDY VS. JASON VS. ASH, featuring Bruce Campbell's cult character from the EVIL DEAD series. Now, almost a full year after FVSJ hit theaters, New Line is negotiating - and coming close to a resolution - with director Sam Raimi for that film. Before you go and get too excited, Raimi isn't onboard to direct. New Line is just going to him first because he holds the rights to the EVIL DEAD franchise and the Ash character. Should he reject New Line's proposition, then there will be no FVJVA movie. It appears though that even if New Line can't get Raimi to agree to have Ash appear in the film, they will be moving ahead with some sort of FREDDY VS. JASON sequel."

It's really great to see Bruce starting to finally get some recognition.  I can't imagine an actor who needs it more.

I dunno how I'd feel about an Ash movie without Raimi on board, but I agree that it's great to see Bruce doing more. He's hilarious, and Bubba Ho Tep proved it: the man can act!

I will definately be going to see that.
I thought I saw Bruce in Spiderman. He's still looking good. Should be hilarious as a gym teacher.

It has potential, but with Disney you can never tell. Still, Bruce and Kurt Russell in one movie, that's something you don't see every day

All I can say is "Hail to the king baby!" It's about time Bruce was in the lime light again.

Great.
Although this is the same idea as the comic book "P.S.238"
If the writeing is as neat as the comic, all well and good...

You know, for awhile I thought Campbell was a big prick, but that was in my younger and more naive stage of life. Campbell really is a fun dude with a great personality and can smirk at his career. He was in both Spider Mans (much more noticeably in the second) and having just seen Evil Dead 2, I appreciate him more!
