Has anyone else seen this on any online retailers? I found it while shuffling through the deepdiscountdvd.com library, but could not find anything solid about it online. Anyone else at all excited about it, the price makes it sound like it's not one of those uber cheap sets and at least has some quality with glasses included and all.
You may want to check www.oldies.com and see if they carry it. They give pretty good descriptions of their wares. And it's a great place to pick up some really good deals.
Sounds interesting. I hope they are all black & white movies with the red & green glasses. I have COMIN' AT YA! on DVD and the 3-D effects are terrible. It was shot in color and you had to use gray polarized lenses to watch it in theaters. The DVD is also in color, but you use the red & green lenses to watch it. Unfortunately, the red & green images blend in with the color film and all you see are dark, blurry, discolored smudges that give you a headache.
The other 3-D movies that are out there (like CAMP BLOOD and ZOMBIE CHRONICLES) use a 3-D system that is similar to Imax (you need to buy special equipment to watch them). The 3-D effects work pretty well, but the movies suck. I was also able to buy ANDY WARHOL'S FRANKENSTEIN and HOUSE OF WAX in this format (on Ebay). They also "remastered" some non-3-D movies (like NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD and LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS) in this 3-D format, but I haven't seen them yet. I'm suspicious of the quality because these movies were not filmed in 3-D.
"The Screaming Skull" is also another dandy in 3-D.
If we're recomending 3d movies, I recomend one called, "The Mask" that is just similar enough to the Jim Carey movie that I think the comic that was based on must have been at least inspired by this 3d version. B&W, spooky, only actually 3d in certain parts. This guy hears a voice that says "Put the mask on now", that's your cue to put on the glasses, then he puts on the mask and trips out in 3d.
Dave:
I have a VHS copy of THE MASK laying around here somewhere. You're right . . . it isn't bad and it actually has a few decent 3-D effects.
