Title: Resident Evil apocalypse
Post by: Dunners on August 22, 2004, 05:32:20 PM
Well I know that lots of folks here seemed to like the first one and unfortunatley a sequel is due out in almost a week and a half. As I hate Writer/director/producer Paul W.S Anderson with a passion I would love nothing more than to watch his films go down in flames at the box office.

Not gonna happen unfortunately as America has shown that as long as it says"Resident Evil' or 'Aliens" or 'Predator" or even 'American pie' they'll pay for it.

But I am curious as to what the rest of you are expecting from this movie?

They showed the full trailer for it when I went to see AvP.

I thought it looked totally ridiculous.

Milla Jovovich just doesn't do it for me as a leading lady.

c'mon the tagline for the film is "My name is Alice and I remember everything."

I don't blame people for calling it House of the Dead 2. The funniest parts are when Alice says, "They all died, but the problem was...they didn't stay dead." and Jill says, "I'm good...but not that good." The movie is going to be a joke, but watch it open up in the number one spot opening weekend. And, yeah, I'm going to watch it. Can't help myself, its like drugs.

Meemu Yoyohitch is a cutie pie. They should put her in a Strawberry Shortcake movie, like the one someone proposed with Aliens in it.

The movie looks utterly ridiculous, and I can't wait to see it.  It looks to be a conglomeration of Resident Evil 2 and 3, down to the costumes.  Also, Anderson is not directing this one, although he wrote the screenplay.  Looks fun.  I'll see it.

I dunno max, I haveno faith In Andersons writing or directing. I was hoping we'd get soemhting different visually since a diff director i doing this....But I was wrong, New Directer Alexander witt seems to be following Andersons tradition of copying other movies.

In th ebegining of the traile when all the limo's go to see the handicapped doctor scientist guy it looks exactly like the begining suburb from the dawn of the dead remake. Not to mentiona few other scenes...*sigh*

Well Im not a big Milla Jovovich fan either... she really doesnt do macho or agressive very well.
But as long as there is lots of zombies and blood I will probably be happy with this one. I will definately be giong to see it.

Lots of zombies? check, blood....doubtful. Since this is the first unitdirector of the first crappy movie  hes following the guidlines given and set from the first movie.

I dotn think we're going to get any real gore or anything. And i can say that pretty confidently due to the tv spots.

'rated R for non stop action and violence' no gore means poop.

I put it to you like this;

I am a HUGE fan of the Resident Evil Games. Hell I own the first 3 and I sort of stick with those even though I've owned Outbreak and Code Veronica...

Yet as a fan (and an avid ANTI Paul WS Anderson fanatic) I am looking for Resident Evil Apocolypse for the fact that it looks kool to me. And yeah some of the tags did sound a bit cheesy but I'm still diggin the film so far. I think I just like the aspect of zombies and all fo that. Haze me, hate me if you will but I'm looking forward to it.

Nemesis is in the film, looks exactly the same as he did in Resident Evil 3.  I'm not a fan of Anderson's work, although Mortal Kombat was entertaining, and the first Resident Evil movie was surprisingly enjoyable even though I expected to hate it and wouldn't have seen it at all if it hadn't been showing for free at midnight at the theater near my college.  Apocalypse looks like it could be the silliest damn movie of the year, and here's hoping it's nothing remotely like the Dawn of the Dead remake, which I DID hate.  It could go either way, really, but as this is the director's first film (well, sort of) and Anderson was too busy torching our brain cells with AvP to direct, I'll reserve judgment until I see this one.

Yeah the nemesis is in this film. does he look exactly like his video game counter part? umm....well no.

In the game, for those who dont know the nemesis is about 8-9 feet tall huge all around shoots tentdrils out of his arms and constantly mutates through out th egame. Also uses a rocket launcher as a weapon.

In the movie? well.... hes probably about 6 '5.....suppossedly has lead pipes and tubes in his arms....uses a rocket launcher and vulcan cannon...

why doesnt it work in the movie IMO? Well the body proportions of the monster do not match, the head and feet are enlarged, the hands are two small, and the arms looks too stubby.

had they hired  a bulky 6'3 stunt man and made all the adjustments they did to the 6'ft actor instead the proportions migh thave matched better.

Instead he looks like acircus freak.....not to mention the make up job they did was NOT very high quality.

He looks like hes got a silly putty/playdoh head and plastic trench coat.Oh..And hes also a wuss in the movie :(.

There's a scene inwhich the stupid Alice girl jump kicks him through a brick wall.

...for shame..for shame...I cant wait to see How Jill Valentine, Carlos Olivera and Nicholai are ruined as well.

:((....

House of the Dead 2 will include "revolutionary" new filming "techniques". Including an hour of "reload, reload, reload, reload -  shoot outside the screen." Before the film runs out of lives and waits for the audience ot insert coin(s) for additional credit(s).

No, because then that would actually make the movie somewhat original.

Every time I look up the Resident Evil games, I get all the alternate titles and end up being confused. Can someone please list the games that are officially in the Resident Evil line, or point me to a web site?

With source material like that, you can't exactly expect a masterpiece of film.  :o)

Just messing with you Dunners.  I used to love the RE games, but completely fell out after Code Veronica.  The updated versions on the GameCube are pretty decent though.

But like I said, you can't expect a great film when you have a ridiculious plot line to work with.  I liked the original RE.  I will be there opening night of RE2.  It'll be nice to just sit down, turn off my brain, and enjoy the pretty pretty explosions.

I'm not too happy with the way Resident Evil 4 seems to be taking shape.  For one thing, they've removed the zombies entirely, because, according to the creative team behind the latest sequel, zombies are boring.  They've also removed the Umbrella Corporation.  But don't worry - they're keeping those fantastic mix-and-match switch puzzles, because the producer says that "it wouldn't be a Resident Evil game without the puzzles."

Congratulations, jackass - know what else it's not a Resident Evil game without? ZOMBIES.

I'd agree with youe xcept they're doign a lot of cool s**t with the tranced villagers. they're a hell of a lot more dangerous than zombies ever were.Umbrella IS in the game they said, but they havent confirmed how much of a role they play.
