I'm curious, to all of you out there that own a ton of DVD's, how frequent do you watch each of them? Because I own a pretty good amount, and some of them I hardly ever watch because the film is either not one of my favorites or it's one of those REALLY bad movies I bought at wally-world on a whim for only 5$.
Do any of you have like a set schedule of viewing all your DVDs? Do you even watch them all?
Funny, but I rarely watch my dvd's either. The only time I do really do is with friends...sometimes we all get together and watch some of our favs, but we are more likely to rent something we haven't seen yet or just came out.
However, if I just bought it and loved it, I watch it a few times (for instance I bought Kill Bill vol. 2 and watched 3 times all ready)
Usually, with cable, well, I go to that first, then the movie store, then my dvds.
I own quite a few DVDs but just like you guys, I rarely ever watch them. I have a bunch of WalMart 5 dollar DVDs that are just sitting there collecting dust. I finally got around to watching Last Action Hero and Johnny Menmonic after owning them for about six months.
I'm usually watching rented DVDs instead of watching ones I own. Occasionally I'll pop in some of the better films in my collection. Gotta watch the classics.
I am always behind in my viewing. I have somewhere around 1,200 DVDs now, and I would guess that I have about 40 or more that I haven't watched yet (mostly some TWILIGHT ZONE episodes, MONKEES episodes, AVENGERS episodes, a few movies from the STAR TREK boxed set (I watched 1 through 4 so far), some James Bond DVDs (I'm watching them in order and I'm only up to MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN), and some other miscellaneous titles. I'd say I watch 5 to 10 DVDs per week (closer to 5 in the summer and 10 in the winter . . . I can knock off about 5 movies on a snowy Saturday). I'd say I watch my new DVDs about 80% of the time, and I watch the ones I have already seen the other 20% of the time.
I go through phases sometimes. For instance, I might watch 4 or 5 Bond movies in one week. Or the entire PLANET OF THE APES collection. Or all of the LETHAL WEAPON movies. But usually, I just grab whatever I'm in the mood to watch. My most common viewing times are between 7:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, between 7:00 p.m. and 2:00 a.m. on Friday, and just about any time on Saturday (depending on the weather). I tend to watch horror, sci-fi, blaxploitation, and martial arts movies late at night. Early evenings are usually for dramas, comedies, and mainstream action movies.
I found that some movies arne't watchable, in that if you own them you don't tend to want to see them...even if you like it. Which is probably why I only own about 50 dvd's and a few vhs tapes.
I've been checking out dvd's at the library nearly every damn day. The librarians are starting to wonder about me. I probably watch up to 10 a week, depending on how free my weekend is. Since i don't have cable most nites i'll pop one in. Unfortunately I happened to walk down an aisle with books, and noticed some available on the shelf that are still on the new york times best seller list. God i love my library,
sounds like u got one awesome libary, our library doesn't even have dvd's. and the one on base has a few, mostly mainstream garb though.
Believe it or not I just sold 12 DVD's at my local CD exchange place for $3.00 a piece and use the money towards 25 VHS Kung Fu films for $2.99 each.
I'm more into seeing all types of films that I can affordably find. I rent, buy, trade, but don't really collect.
Usually only buying cheapie DVD's from $3 to $7. I keep a selection of about 100 films then trade off the lesser ones as I film the shelve.
Rarely do I watch a film twice. Mostly because of a time factor. Always looking for the next film.

Sounds like you need a man Susan!
You know, after giving it some thought, movies are a lot more agreeable than having a man as you say. I can rewind, forward, mute, and best of all eject a movie. I can keep it, sell it, give it away, I can smask it to tiny little pieces...maybe chop it up and put the remains through a meat grinder. AND BEST OF ALL...it's perfectly legal, as well as satisfying.
Hmmm, I I am sure there are even more reasons why a movie is better than a man...and don't give me any sexual defenses either...we all know that movies, and mechanical objects can do the trick without any help of a man.
I guess the same can be said about a woman in a man's perspective too...but it was merely to point out an observation on your comment to Susan! :)
Yeah Yeah Yeah...
I opened myself up to big-time harshness from you women on here by saying that Susan needs a man.
As soon as I clicked the "Post" button I thought, "Aw hell, I'm in for it now!"
I was actually just joking.
Or was I?

that's a pretty smart idea Scott. that way you can rotate and see more films, without holding onto certain ones just to collect dust.
although i must admit there are a lot of DVD's i bought for nostalgic purpose and i do watch repeatedly, like Killer klowns from outer space, the Gate, Return of the Lving Dead.
RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD is one that I have been found viewing every time it's on TV. I get a real kick out of the storage manager and the creamation guy. Those two have made for some of the best movie moments.
On the other side, it's fortunate that I'm not married. Otherwise my wife would kill me for buying all those DVDs and then watch them very infrequently.
2-4 movies a week maybe I guess, somewhere around there- sometimes less though
Chopper = yeah, the last city I lived in the library sucked and only had VHS. this one has really current and obscure titles...i'm obsessed, mostly because the mere idea that it's all FREEEEEEEEE
Ash - more specifically I just need a man who likes movies as much as I do. Otherwise, what's it gonna do for me? ;-) This is what people do when they don't have cable, otherwise i'd be like everyone else watching reality shows as soon as i got home from work until i fell asleep on the couch.
Loyal- right on! I had a man for 10 years, and let me tell you i'm all the more happier now that i'm single again and I can watch whatever the hell I want, whenever and don't have to argue about who picks out the movie title! Nor do i have to endure stupid little comments like "you actually liked that crap?" It's a win win situation

haha! especially the store manager. i get a kick out of how idiotic he acts in the beginning when the gas gets out. overdramatic horror acting, but done with such class and finese :)

i would love to argue with a woman about that stuff, just having one there would be nice enough for me.
I also like when they are he is trying to tell him about the "kittens" in the bag and they are trying to figure out how to handle it.
