i love movies but I feel as though they are not as good as they should be!
Watch some movies made prior to 1990?
what can you say? well I can say that if youre going to start a topic you might want to make it more than 1 sentence.
Then maybe you guys should try and make one of your own. Just a thought... ; )
I would recommend watching films made before the year you were born. That is what I had to do. Of course, I was born so long ago, I won't say how long, for the most part, those were the only ones available on television.
In a previous post, Lisa admits to being sixteen. How many of us could make a totally coherent argument at that age? I know I couldn't.
And welcome, Lisa. It is nice to see some more young people on this board. Unlike some other boards, this one tilts to the other extreme of the age spectrum.
I suggest watching some of the movies on the AFI's top 100 list. That would be a good start. Some other rules of thumb for movies to avoid are:
* Avoid watching any movie from the late 1970s or early 1980s that has the word "Star" in the title (except for Star Wars);
* Avoid watching any movie from 1979 - 1989 with the word "Alien" in the title (unless it is either Ridley Scott's "Alien" or James Cameron's "Aliens");
* Avoid watching any comedy about college fraternities that was released within 5 years of "Animal House;"
* Avoid watching any teen comedies from the late 1970s through the present if the video or DVD box says they are "wacky," "zany," or "irreverent;"
* Avoid watching any horror movie that takes place at a summer camp;
* Avoid watching any horror movie that has a scene in a disco.
These are just a few rules of thumb. There are many others.
