Title: Tim Choate dead at 49
Post by: trekgeezer on September 28, 2004, 05:29:02 PM
The actor who played the annoyingly funny Zathras the servant of the keeper ot The Great Machine on Babylon 5. Choate died in a motorcycle accident Friday Sept. 24. B5 had some great character actors and Tim was one of them, he will be missed.

On the B movie side, Choate played Commander Howe in the Canadian cheapie Defcon  4 back in 1985. I'm sure someone else here has seen it.

Favorite Zathras quotes: "Zathras used to being beast of burden. Zathras have sad life, probably have sad death, but at least there is symmetry ."

"Cannot run out of time. There is infinite time. You are finite. Zathras is finite. This... [takes out a tool] is wrong tool."

"But only Zathras have no-one to talk to. No-one manages poor Zathras, you see. So Zathras talks to dirt. Sometimes talks to walls, or talks to ceilings. But dirt is closer. Dirt is used, through everyone walking on it. Just like Zathras, but we've come to like it. It is our role. It is our destiny in the universe. So, you see, sometimes dirt has insects in it. And Zathras likes insects. Not so good for conversation, but much protein for diet. Ha! Zathras fix now, this way."

That's a shame. I liked Zathras.
