I have Cartoon Network's Adult Swim on right now (Family Guy is on at this time), and I just HAPPENED to glance at the screen for a moment, and caught one of those little weirdies they run at the commercial breaks....
.....and it just HAPPENED to be a closeup face shot of Angus Scrimm glaring at the camera doing his best Tall Man glare!
Went to http://phantasm.com/ and read "Special Halloween appearance by ANGUS SCRIMM Saturday night, Oct 30th, Midnight on
Cartoon Network's Adult Swim - Aqua Teen Hunger Force!!!", so this is an ongoing promotion for Angus' appearance.
Yeah, I've seen the commercial in passing as well. Angus looks like he has never aged.
If you caught the latest episode of Aqua Teen last Sunday, there was a HUGE Phantasm reference in it. At one point Shake finds a "portal" in Frylock's room. The portal was the exact one from the Phantasm films with the two poles. Great stuff.
I never payed much attention to those Phantasm films but last night they played part II on TCM and it's really cool! Amazing what can be done on such a small budget.
The original Phantasm is a fantastic film, as is the final flick - Oblivion. The original is a blast of a low budget flick and Oblivion has a great storyline and ties everything together nicely.
Phantasm 2 was a bigger budget flick and was actually made by Universal if I'm not mistaken. They replaced Michael Baldwin with James LeGros who just didn't fit the part at all. Atleast Reggie is the same in all of the films.
Phantasm 3 is one of the better of the series as well. It's overly campy and stupid but still a lot of fun. It also has the absolute best 'Cuda from the entire series. Damn I love that car.
The entire series is well worth a look
