Title: Steam Wars
Post by: trekgeezer on November 03, 2004, 03:20:41 PM
Anybody else here like the concept of  Steam Punk.  This a site about a project that Larry Blamire (actor, director, and writer of The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra) has been working on for years. I sort of like the look of it and think it would be a neat concept for a movie..

Well, it is interesting, and sort of goes to the War of the Worlds & League of Extraordinary Gentlement threads earlier --
If nothing else, there are stylistic reasons to attempt a faithful period-piece rendering.  In some respects, the Victorian/Edwardian eras were even more "forward looking" and optomistic about the "future" than even 1950's America.
How could you "update" 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, for example?  One reason it works is the shock of the new in the era it occurs.

I love steampunk. This made me squeal like a little girl with a new my little pony.
