Title: halloween cancelled.
Post by: the gooch on October 31, 2001, 05:08:37 PM
what is up with cancelling organized events...by me several
malls cancelled their little halloween shindigs...and actually
said in the news that it was "out of respect?"...not for safety's
sake...and like anyone would think it was disrespectful for a few
kids to take a break from the adult hysteria saturating our
airwaves and papers. we're talking about "safe" organized events
here...

not to start a political discussion inadvertantly...but cancelling some
of this stuff seems a lot like opportunistic posturing and a good
way to save a  couple bucks.

god bless mayor daley: "No we're not going to cancel halloween...what are we going to do...cancel christmas too?"

My son is going trick or treating around the neighborhood.  Frankly the overreaction is disconcerting.  What's next, Sant aain't going to let the kids sit on his lap?

this is exactly what those Afaganies want people to do, keep being frightened and not let people carry on with their lives

I am happy to report that the trick or treaters were out in force in my neighborhood.  My son got a full basket of goodies, which I went over with a fine tooth comb, of course some were suspicious and I had to get ride of them...mmmm, crunchy tasty.

i also had more visitors than last year too
(although last year was pretty weak)...and the
costumes were better...so halloween survived
in my neighborhood after all.

In Greenwich Village, NYC, every year, there is a Holloween parade, where all the costumed freaks come out and start prancing and partying all night long.  On that wednsday, on my way home from work, I saw this fine chick dressed up as Thelma from "Scooby-Doo".  She even got those thick black framed glasses. This parade has been going on for as long as I can remember, maybe before I was born (and I'm gonna be 26 this december).  So let someone say that october 31 is just october 31, and , if not protest, have a riot all against that one person.  (Kinda like the rest of the world is rioting against poor Afgahnistan)
