Title: Constantine and the Cross (1962)
Post by: Scott on December 27, 2004, 11:46:31 AM
CONSTANTINE AND THE CROSS (1962) - Excellent epic Italian historical film about Roman Emperor  Constantine who see's the sign of the cross in the sky the evening before a decisive battle. The story is different from what I've read about this story. In the film it seems that Helena (his mother) is already a Christian, but I think her conversion was actually after her sons conversion, but I could be wrong. As for the film it is really well done with thousands of troops, outfits, and sets making this a memorable film. This is a major production that I found on a Diamond Entertainment DVD for about $6. If you like these type films then it is well worth the price.

I've seen this and enjoyed it. I think I saw it for Cornel Wilde, who was one of the better actor/directors out there. If you liked him in this one, you might check out some of his other films, in which he not only acted,  but also directted ("Beach Red," "The Naked Prey," "Sword of Lancelot," etc.)

Hhmmm. I'll look into each of them BoyScoutKevin. Thanks for the recommendations.  Cornel Wilde was good in CONSTANTINE AND THE CROSS.
