I really like RED PLANET. The idea of being stranded on a planet with no way off and running out of air just was very interesting, but overall Val Kilmer not only saved the earth, but he may have saved the movie. The film may not have been so unique without him in it. Sometimes we have been ruined in our viewing habits by special effects and non-stop action. Did you like PITCH BLACK, SUPERNOVA, MISSION TO MARS? I think that year and a half was a good Sci-Fi year and all these movies will be like the classic Sci-Fi like the ones from the 50's and 60's.

I agree with badplanet, this was terribly boring, but apart from that (no irony intended) it was not so bad. Acting was OK, even from Val Kilmer. And the plot is interesting. Even the visuals were creative, and so was the Mars environment, and the story has a good start. But the script was just terrible. I mean, how they can expect a movie with so little things going on to be amusing? Maybe a great director could have done something with this, but this was not the case...
