ISLAND OF DEATH (1975) - This Greek film directed by a guy named Nico Mastorakis is set on a Greek island with whitewashed village. It's really a colorful but brutally perverse film. The director wanted to make a disgusting film with $30,000 after seeing the success of TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE which was made for around $100,000 (so the interview on the DVD tells us). Well he accomplishes this in this sick perverse film with two lead characters killing people because of their victims "sins". This was a film that I really couldn't find anything good about the film except the location shots and some of the music.

Sounds like its NOT right up my alley.
Not to be confused with ISLAND OF THE DAMNED [aka WHO CAN KILL A CHILD?] At first I thought you were talking about that movie.
ISLAND OF THE DAMNED is a nasty little film, similar premise to CHILDREN OF THE CORN, but a thousand times better.
Saw the review of ISLAND OF THE DAMNED at imdb.com and it sounds like a good one.
One more note on ISLAND OF DEATH. The decapitation of the older lady by way of bulldozer was really well done. Quite a scene. There are many other scenes like this in the film, but the film offers us nothing else really.
But really, what does a film like this need to offer besides loads of icky stuff? The bits between the perversion tend to get a bit dull, but I'd say it's a must have for any fan of down & dirty exploitation flicks.
Only hardgore movies I like are:
Braindead
Evil Dead
Make that any zombie flick I like. I am NOT gonna watch this, though.
Go ahead Jack, watch it. I highly recommend it for you. (heh..heh)
I don't want to watch it. Ad to that, our video shop would probably have it...
If that was three years ago, that is. It is hard to explain.
by the way, does a "man falling on broken bottle face-first" sound like it could go into a horror movie? Or one like this?

Huh??

That could go into about any genre of movie.
The old video shop was two stories of vidoes. Two whole floors. They would have had it there, but then they moved to a smaller shop just down the road. The old one is now a St. Vinnie's.
By the way, could you help me with my Doom movie? I'll do a thread later.
How about this:
Possesed man with three mandibles for a lower jaw tears off mans face. I close up. In full colour.
That's how one of the marines in Doom: Resurrection is offed. Thoughts?
I was thinking the same thing as I posted, but somehow didn't like the film as much as others of it's kind.
