So, Bay has "reinvented" the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Amityville Horror, and now The Hitcher!? Is nothing sacred to this man!?
Here's the short article from joblo.com:
"Our man Chris Gaede in L.A. just returned from a nifty set visit of Michael Bay's THE ISLAND (stay tuned to JoBlo.com for more on that next week), and managed to get some news from the man about the upcoming sequel to THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE and yet another classic horror flick, which they are thinking about remaking. As long as Jessica Biel is back and wearing next-to-nothing in the sequel, I'll be there or be square...in the pants!! (or didn't she die in the original-- I don't remember, I was too busy staring at her great behind!) Here's what Bay had to say (hey, that rhymed...):
Q: What's the current status of the TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE prequel?
BAY: I think we're gonna start in April.
Q: Do you have a cast yet?
BAY: No. We start looking soon.
Q: Is R. Lee Ermey going to back?
BAY: Yup. He's the best.
Q: What's the other remake that you're shootin' to get the rights for?
BAY: THE HITCHER
and...
Q: What's your reaction to the whole Team America thing? Do you have a sense of humor about it?
BAY: I didn't see it, but yeah I can take the p**s out of myself, I think I'm a character."
The Hitcher!?!?!? I can't believe I'm reading that correctly. God I hope someone stops this.
It will probably be turned into a dumb action film...I can't see someone like Bay being able to make a film as dark as the original, especially in this current social climate.
I'm a little surprised, though...I liked The Hitcher when I saw it but didn't think it was really a classic film--I'm surprised he wants to remake it and a little surprised that people are flipping out as much as they are over it.
"a little surprised that people are flipping out as much as they are over it."
This is because it's the only good movie that Rutger Hauer ever made...it's a travesty, I tell ya.

Disregarding Blade Runner, I assume.
The Hitcher for me is a classic film. Brings me back to my early years of watching these types of films on HBO and Cinemax after the parents had gone to bed. The Hitcher is a great flick.
Hows about someone remaking Michael Bay's movies, and, like, make them good this time? (Pearl Harbor, I'm looking at you.)
Onionhead, I didn't really consider Blade Runner, forgot he was even in it.
He really should look into the whole Team America thing. It was my favourite song on the soundtrack.
Sampe of lyrics:
'I miss you like Michael Bay missed the point,
when he made Pearl Harbor'
the song is set up to be a 'i miss you, and need you' sort of song, but is actually just laying crap on Pearl Harbor and how stupid Michael Bay is.
I don't think he is a character, as he said he thought he was in that sample of interview, just the subject of a very funny song
He should listen to it and maybe rethink careers. I am not a fan of his at all, and will be humming that bloody song for the next few hours!!
Rutger Hauer was also good in Ladyhawke
Yeah, like there's a chance in Hell that anyone working for this douchebag can re-create that ungodly wall of tension in The Hitcher that just keeps building until the credits roll. Cthulhu knows the feebs handling the TCM remake whizzed it down their collective legs.
I'd say "The Hitcher" was one of the last good movies Rutger Hauer made before his leading man career began to slide.
Does Michael Bay still claim to be the love child of John Frankenkheimer? Maybe he's the product of Frankenheimer's career stretch of making bad movies, mostly during the late 60s and 70s, when he admitted he was drinking too much; and Bay's got the inferior genes.
Since Bay as director is the lap dog of Jerry Bruckheimer, it figures he would follow in his footsteps as a producer of annoying crap films. I hate the though of him remaking "The Hitcher", but since he's still a moneymaker, I guess he'll be at it until he's no longer profitable.
