Title: Ever been contacted by a B-filmmaker?
Post by: Cheecky-Monkey on February 22, 2005, 05:43:23 PM
Threw IMDB I've been contacted by John Carl Buechler (He's woked on dozens of 80's flicks like Ghoulies and Re-Animator doing creature effects), the writer of "Fear of the dark" (2002), and an FX artist named Brian Quinn.
Anyone ever been contacte by one of the B-movie world greats?

My film instructor here at Appalachian State U. is a columnist of b-movies and their makers. He's done published work on William Castle, Heschell Gordon Lewis, and Roger Corman in anthology series being taught in other schools. It's kind of like knowing everyone in B-moviedom.

Do restraining orders and "cease and desist" letters count? :)

I talked to Don Coscarelli right after Phantasm IV came out about the future of the series.

And,  like Andrew, I've been taken to task by Gary Goddard, director of Masters of the Universe.

Those are the two highest-profile contacts I've had.

I've spoken with Jay Andrews (director of Curse of the Komodo). He's friendly with all members at his website. He even sent me his script for his next movie, Komodo vs. Cobra.

Wowo. An advanced copy of the script for Komodo vs. Cobra. That one sounds like the next summer blockbuster. Was it any good?

Of late I seem to be in regular contact with Uwe Boll. This may or may not be something to be proud of. :)

Dozens of them -- Some of you get tired of hearing me name them.
Incidentally, I hope that these guys know that some of us on the board are actors looking for work(! -- Is there any other kind?).

Peter Medak contacted me through my Herman Cohen web site.

He directed THE CHANGELING with George C. Scott (great ghost movie!), SPECIES II, and lots of TV episodes...everything from "Space 1999" and the 80s "Twilight Zone" to "Law and Order" and "House M.D."

It would be great if some of these guys would surf boards like this to find new talent.  I think they'd be surprised at what they could unearth.
The closest I've come is being contacted by Randy Benzie, the manager of Joe Estevez and Robert Z'Dar.
I tend to talk to more musicians than movie people.

Um... That great.  Except that there IS no "Jay Andrews."  It's one of Jim Wynorski's pseudonyms.  So were you talking to Jim Wynorski?

(Adding to my list:  I'm on a discussion list with Jim and Fred Olen Ray, so occasionally our posts end up in the same discussion.  And I even got a credit in one of Ray's recent flicks for helping to brainstorms taglines.)

Nathan also seems to communicate with some of the real bargain--budget filmakers that send him screeners  (Andrew does too)

Not sure if it counts...

Title: Yes.....Sam Sherman

Sam Sherman was a friend and producer of the late Al Adamson, and Sam has kindly given me much information for my Al Adamson website.

Speaking of Fred Olen Ray -- anyone seen "Tomb of The Werewolf"?  Any good? -- I mean, is it any bad?

I've emailed back and forth with Jack M. Sell (outtakes, deadly spygames) and have a couple tapes of workprint footage and behind the scenes footage for outtakes that I ended up getting from him.
