I'm working my way through the Dario Argento canon. This, his second film and the one he likes the least of his work, is another Hitchcockian giallo with little surrealism and a linear plot. As with Bird With the Crystal Plumage, the emphasis is on suspense rather than blood, so I had to pretend to be sophisticated in order to watch it. 3 slimes nonetheless. The ending is strongly reminiscent of Se7en, weirdly enough. Coincidence?
I liked cat o nine tails but it is quite different from his later films. His first three films (bird, cat, and 4 flies...the animal trilogy) are his traditional suspense giallo's with litte gore. I wish anchor bay would get ahold of Bird with the Crystal Plumage (already out on dvd by VCI I think) and 4 flies on grey velvet.
I have no idea what to make of this............. NO I havent read the message.
