Don't know if anyone here read much of her work, she is famous for the Witch World series. I've read a few of her older stories.

That's Madeline L'Engle. Norton was EFFING PROLIFIC, man! I think I saw a brand new beastmaster book just a week or so ago. The fist one was probably written in the 60s or something. I just saw a thing in the paper that said her first novel was published in 1934. Funny, I always pictured her as a tall, swarthy man.

Oops, you're right.  That's pretty sad of me to get them mixed up, since I worked in a bookstore.

I *do* remember some of her short stories, though.  One in particular has stayed with me, about a future time when people found a way to stunt their growth so there would be more room on Earth, but they became mean inside.  They oppress the people who chose to remain normal size.
