Title: Battlefield Earth
Post by: Mike Sci-Fi on December 03, 2001, 05:00:40 PM
Did anyone catch the fairly recent movie Battlefield Earth? This movie is definitely a bad movie. Some of it doesn't even make any sense. The remaining pockets of humanity live in areas of radiation which is dangerous to the Psychlo invaders as well as the humans, yet no one suffers radiation sickness? Not only that but these basically primitive humans also manage to learn to fly fighter jets after only a few hours in a flight simulator? This movie is bad, but strangely fun to watch.

from what I understand, it's based on the writings of L Ron Hubbard, head of the scientology movement to which Battlfields star, John Revolting, is a member.  I really want to see it because it's supposedly so bad.

Why is every shot of this crapfest on a 20 degree angle? I love the scene near the end of the film when the hero drops his walkie talkie (it's a clear shot showing the device hit the ground) and 20 seconds later he's using it. Prove that you have leverage over the makers of this film and never ever see it.

Jep
Its deffenty a bad movie. It just goes to show how desorientated scientologi in fact is . After the movie was released ,John travolta also a scientolog  ,said that it was one of the better scifi-movies in the last years .JEp desorientated.

Hey this is a cool flick! Weird? Yes, but dammit it is cool! I mean come'on John Travolta had that b-movie villain laugh down pat. If you haven't seen it. Watch it. Definately a cool b-movieish sci-fi movie that is fun to watch. Otherwise, you losers can stick with Titanic(uhhhgggg!).

I definitely agree with  lester1/2jr.  Such a bad movie can damage your health, seriously, and I would feel responsible if any of you ended up being part of Cienciology after watching it. Anyway, there are safer ways to know more about the film, such as reading the review at Jabotoo's webpage. It's hilarious.

P.D: Anyway, if you feel you are strong enough, go ahead! But I warn you, I can't tell if that thing is really dangerous, but it is definitely boring.

Sadly, this isn't true.  There are movies out there that make B:E look well acted and well-thought.  Not very many, but they're out there.

Waiting...
