Title: Titanic
Post by: lester1/2jr. on December 05, 2001, 08:35:12 PM
I tried to watch this movie just so I could be a part of society, but I could only get through like five minutes.  The dialogue reminded me of a broadway musical, like the part right before they start singing.  "Ehh we're going to America!! We set sail for our voyage!!" (a 1234..) "Blaahhhh big broadway song!" Wasn't surprised to see their was a musical version out.  Did I mention I f**kin hate musicals?

Everything after the boat hits the berg is technically decent.  You have to giggle at DiCrapio's line..."This is bad."

One of my greatest prides in life is that I have never, ever seen this movie. Actually, I did watch the opening credits for a scene in a short horror film my friends and I made, where I play an insufferable geek who sets out to find the killer, gets sidetracked, pops in Titanic, and promptly gets strangled with a rolling pin (Talk about suffering for your art...).

Title: TITANIC: Bad, bad, bad, bad, bad...
Post by: Chris K. on December 05, 2001, 10:12:51 PM
...bad, bad, bad, bad, bad, bad, bad, bad, bad movie. And that's a lot of "bad" I am using to describe TITANIC. Why people like the film? How the hell do I know. Hey, they are entitled to their own opinions. But for a bad film like TITANIC? And people think I am crazy to defend the film EQUINOX (1967)!

If you want my FULL BLOWN opinion on TITANIC, take a look at my long rant comment on the "User Comments" section of TITANIC. After you read it, you will get the general idea of how much I hate the film (and James Cameron, gota hate James Cameron).

Leo Di-fishfood. I loved the effects in the film, the ship was grand....but leo and his main squeeze were DULL! Sorry, i will not like a movie just because of its impressive setting. It has to make good use of that setting. This is a flick that tries to get me to care about the people...and except for Molly Brown and a few bits and pieces, i don't feel up to it. The celtic music is good....but in service to this? Every time i catch that shot of Leo standing behind his male friend on the bow of the ship....i remember the Oscar nite MST3K...."Leo, hey cut it out...back off, will ya....HEY,stop, please!...." After that, its all down hill!

I'd heard that the iceburg scene was good, what with frozen bodies bobbing up and down and whatnot, unfortunetly I didn't make it that far. Not even close.  And Cameron's Dark Angel has been a dissapointment as well.  The 15 second ads for it I enjoy, but the show...
