Saw this on the Sci Fi Channel more than 10 years ago and thought it was dry as hell.
I've been wanting to see it again. I'm a sucker for 1970's sci-fi.
Typical 1970's overpopulation hysteria crammed into anemic, overwrought sci-fi.
From what I remember, even Oliver Reed seemed restrained.
Perhaps a good double bill with Michael J. Anderson's "Logan's Run".
I had this on VHS, but I sold it on Ebay when I started collecting DVDs. You are correct, it is a very dry, talky movie. But I thought the concept was interesting.
Saw it on USA one morning before there was a SciFi Channel. The main reason I remember was because it was so dry, stiff, and talky. I don't mind science fiction films that try to deal with social issues without a lot of whizz bang or action, but I remember this one as a swing and a miss.
Just posted up a brief writeup of this one on my site last week:
This sounds like my kind of film. I'll add it to my list.
