I have a girlfriend who is interested in sharing my hobby, so I'm trying to come up with a triple feature for this weekend. Between my own collection and the local video stores, I have plenty of options. I just can't decide on three movies that are not only superb examples of bad movie fun, but that also will not overwhelm the uninitiated. I was thinking about going the MST route, with some ready-made mocking built in, but I'd prefer to go with movies that are, more or less, in their original form. Any suggestions for an entertaining and accessible bad movie?
Army of Darkness is a good one; relatively mainstream, but still loads of b-movie fun.
Giant Claw, if you can find a copy.
Killer Klowns From Outer Space
Night of the Creeps
Phantasm 2
Starcrash
something post-apocalyptic and Italian
And, of course, Plan 9.
Nathan
Good suggestions so far. If you can get "The Creeping Terror" in both MST and original, and show the latter version, followed by the Bots', that might work. "Roll your own" first, then, see how the pros do it. Could work.
Rock 'n' Roll Nightmare, The Uninvited and Robot Holocaust -- the '80s were a good time.
KRULL or BEASTMASTER
"Battle Beyond The Stars" would be a good first choice. Actually a fairly decent movie, good basic story, has a few stars for recognition. However, it has a low enough budget and enough technical gaffs to remind you it ain't great cinema
..and once you've seen it you've seen about half of Roger Corman's sci-fi collection :)
Beastmaster is a great movie; I wouldn't put it in the "B" category especially as an 'intro' piece because it might set up the wrong expectations
Think "Beastmaster", think "Pheonix The Warrior", don't expect the quality of the first when you see the second :)
That just reminded me that I've been meaning to organize a Persis Khambatta film night for some friends. That much badness might be overwhelming for a newcomer, however.
A lot of good suggestions, and most of them are either in my collection, or available for rent. Thanks guys.
Ooh, forgot about Plan 9. After MST3K, it was my first real step into the world of badfilm. And yes, I own both DVD releases. ;)

Ah yes, who can forget "Megaforce"?
Go with Death Race 2000. You can't go wrong with Corman :)
Humanoids From The Deep
Return Of The Living Dead
Re-Animator
Castle Freak(If you want to gross them out)
The Nest
The Terror From Within
There's Nothing Out There
I could go on all day!
i know of some great films to show a woman:
"Maniac"
"Don't Go In The House"
& The Prowler
"Who can forget Megaforce?"....very few...but we try! Oh, how we try....
Cchris, why do I have the sudden suspicion that you are single?
Any input besides "You must not get out much?" or "I feel that you must be single?" Really, if we were to judge half the male population by their taste in movies most would be either hermits or dating female lobotomy patients.
Andrew
thanks for my back Andrew, i thought people would've seen the SARCASM in my post. i think "don't go in the house" is one of the most lamest, mysoginistic horror movies i've seen, and i turned the "prowler" off at about 25 minutes into it.
Ok, sorry I said anything. I'm not looking to start a fight or anything. Although, I would like to take a minute to point out the fact that my posts aply to me to. Guess I should take my Dad's advice and "Don't miss a good opportunity to SHUT UP!"
